People
Story: A family of explorers
Duration: 90 minutes
Target: Getting students to know and use vocabularies about personal
information, family as well everyday verbs well.
Period 1
Date: 25/11/2018

1. Warm up: what’s my name? Ball 10


- Each student takes turn to introduce about your
name. Everyone needs to listen carefully.
- After they finish, all students stand up in a
circle.
- One student stand in the middle of the circle.
Teacher gives him/her 1 ball (can be paper
ball). Student who takes the ball first says
another student’s name and throws the ball for
that student.
- Who takes the ball needs to say another
student’s name (except for person in the
middle) in 5 second and then throw the ball. If
they can says the name, out of circle.
- Continue until we have 5 losers to do chicken
dance.

INFO (PEOPLE)

- FULL NAME: Teach vocab and expression in


the slides. Let them practice ask/answer in
pairs.
- WHERE DO YOU LIVE: Teach expressions in
the slides (at/on street address,
downtown/suburbs, city center/outskirts). Ask
each student and help them to answer with
their personal info.
- DATE OF BIRTH: Teach the expression and
each student uses their own date of birth to
answer.
- REAL LIFE SITUATION: Read the dialogue in
the library. Fill in the blank with given
expressions.

GAME: ROLE PLAY: PAPER


Students make pairs: librarian and library user.
Ask and answer the sample dialogue with their
info. Try to write down as much info as
possible.
Teacher and TA call some pairs to the board to
act their role. Fix their speaking.

Students can switch pairs/roles to get info from


different friends

- Teach words about family members on the slide. (PEOPLE +
LUCKY
- PLAY GAME “LUCKY NUMBER” NUMBER)

- SPEAKING ABOUT FAMILY MEMBER: Teach &


explain expressions in the sample essay. Then
students try to describe their own family members
applying those expressions.

Review 1: Who’s faster? (PEOPLE)
Divide the class into 2 teams. For each turn, 2
students from both teams come to the front, back to
the board. Teacher explain the meaning of the words.
They need to guess as fast as they can.

- The teacher reads each sentence of the text on the + Handout:
slides (without giving the text for ss). Each student is FAMILY
asked to repeat and the teacher fixes their TREE
pronunciation.
- The text is given to the students. Teacher and TA
help students answer questions in handout.
