The learners demonstrates understanding of the four fundamental operations
involving
Decimals, ratio and proportions.
B. Performance Standards
The learner is able to recognize and represent decimal in various forms and
contexts.
The learner is able to apply the four fundamental operations involving decimals
and ratio and proportion in mathematical problems and real life situations.
C. Learning Competencies/Objectives
M5NS – 11f-116.1
Divides decimals with up to 2 decimal places.
II. Content/Subject Matter:
Dividing Decimals with up to 2 Decimal Places
III. Learners Resources
A. References:
K to 12 MELC in Mathematics 5
K to 12 Teacher and Learner’s Guide in Mathematics 5
B. Materials: Loptop
IV. Procedures:
A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new lesson
Give the product
1. 10 X .2
2. 10 X .5
3. 10X .08
4.10 X .90
5. 100 X 2.5
B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson:
1. Do you still remember to make hand towels?
2. Where is your hand towel made?
3. When and where do you use hand towels?
C. Presenting examples/ instances of the new lesson:
1.36 ÷ 2
2. 18 ÷ 9
3. 49 ÷ 7
4. 60 ÷ 12
5. 75 ÷ 10
D. discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #1
Presenting the following:
Bea has3.4 meters of cloth to be made into hand towels . Each hand towels
measure0.2 meter . How many towels can she make?
Let the pupils answer the problem by answering the questions below.
Guide the pupils
What is asked in the problem?
The number of hand towels that can be made by Bea.
What are the given facts?
1.4 meters of cloth, 0.2 meters
What process will you use? Division of decimals
How will you solve the problem?
Step 1: Multiply the divisor by a power of 10 to make it a whole number.
10 X 0.2= 2

3.4 ÷ 0.2
Step 2: Multiply the dividend by a power of 10 used in the divisor. Then divide.
10 X 3.4 =34
34 ÷ 2 = 17

Check: Multiply the quotient by the divisor. The product should be equal to the
dividend. Bea can make 17 towels.

E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skill #2

Give the quotient

1. 8.4 ÷ 0.3 6. 8.46 ÷ 0.09

2. 6.4 ÷ 0.4 7. 6.51 ÷ 0.07
3. 9.5 ÷ 0.5 8. 4.5 ÷0.02
4. 5.04 ÷ 0.7 9. 52.9 ÷ 2.3
5. 6.64 ÷ 0.08 10. 13.76 ÷ 3.2
F. Developing Mastery (lead to formative assessments)

How did you find the activity?

How did you divide decimals up to 2 decimal places?

How did you change decimal number to whole number?

What challenges did you encounter while doing the activity?

How did you manage?

G. Finding practical application of concepts and skills in daily living

Find the quotient

1. 8.4 ÷ 1.2 6. 75 ÷ .25

2.52.9 ÷ 2.3 7. 18.36 ÷ .34

3. 13.76 ÷ 3.2 8. 24.36 ÷ .42

4. 1.17 ÷ 4.5 9. 2.55 ÷ .03

5. 3.15 ÷ .15 10. 4.83 ÷ 2.3

H. Generalization

Change the divisor to a whole number by moving the decimal point to the right
as many
Places as needed to make it a whole number. So as not to affect the value of the
quotient, also
Move the decimal point in the dividend as many places as it was move in the divisor.
Divide the whole number.
I. Assessment:

Divide:

1.78.98 ÷ .32 4. 237.16 ÷ 5.6

2. 456.96 ÷ .45 5.490.35 ÷ 7.5

3. 4.05 ÷ .36

J. Assignment

Practice dividing decimals up to 2 decimal places.
