Virtual Meet and Greet: Building Connections with ME

Virtual MEet and Greet: Building Connections with ME is a program that aims to
provide an avenue to gather all Mechanical Engineering students to be acquainted to
one another and build connections to the rest of the ME community. This is a 2-day
program scheduled with different activities organized by the JPSME and the clubs to
cater to all ME students especially JPSME members. This program was held last
October 24 to 25, 2020 through different online platforms such as MS Teams, Zoom,
Facebook, and Discord. The Virtual Meet and Greet is composed of the following
events: Opening Program, Talk with ME, Webinar: Cost Engineering, AMEng Us: Hide
and Seek, Robotics Club Orientation, MEBA & MEVA Tiktok Challenge, and Mobile
Legends Pre-Season Tournament.
Opening Program

To officially start the Virtual MEet and Greet, an opening program was held via MS
Teams, which was simultaneously broadcasted live on Facebook. It started at 10 AM
with Ezra Mariz Ang and Marie Jiel Birondo as the hosts of the program, along with one
of the JPSME advisers, Engr. Shiela Marie Bering, who delivered the opening remarks.
Included in the opening program was the introduction of JPSME officers presented by
Marturillas; intermission number by talented JPSME officers: Villarino and Villacorta;
presentation all about JPSME by Allosada; and the oath of membership led by Engr.
Angelo Acenas. Raffle draws and games were also included in the program wherein
lucky members were able to enjoy and win prizes.

Talk with ME

Talk with ME is a program where several questions pertaining to concerns and


queries from the ME student body about the current academic situation were gathered,
which were raised and answered by the ME Faculty led by the ME Department Chair,
Engr. Roberto Base. The following ME faculty members were able to attend and
respond to the questions raised during the program: Engr. Base, Engr. Acenas, Engr.
Bering, Engr. Cabana, Engr. Lucero, Engr. Patunob, Engr. Nadela, and Ms. Alguno.
The program started at 2 PM in MS Teams and was hosted by Lourdes Ortega and
John Lumapguid. ME students from different year levels were able to attend and hear
out the responses of the faculty to all the collected concerns. At the end of the program,
an open forum was conducted to cater all other unattended concerns and questions of
the ME student body.

Webinar

Right after the Talk with ME, the technical webinar


proceeded at 5 PM in the Zoom Meeting – broadcasted
live on Facebook. The webinar was hosted by Edrian
Cliff del Pilar and around 45 ME students from all year
levels were able to attend the webinar in the Zoom
Meeting. This webinar was possible with the help of the
PSME CHBE Chapter, through Engr. Regien Abano, in
terms of providing the Zoom account and for contacting
the resource speaker. Engr. Arnold A. Umbao, PME,
FPSME, shared his expertise on Cost Engineering with
the ME students during the webinar.

aMEng Us: Hide and Seek

The aMEng Us game was participated by registered JPSME members in the Among
Us application and in a Discord Channel. The game started after the webinar at 8 PM.
The game was played in two parts: Elimination and Championship Round. The players
were separated into different rooms for the elimination round and the impostor and the
last crewmate standing were the qualifiers for the championship round. During the
championship round, the qualifiers fought for their spot, the last crewmate standing, and
the lucky impostor would receive the prize. The lucky impostor was Ezra Mariz Ang,
while the last crewmate standing was Roj John Villarino.

Mobile Legends Pre-Season Tournament

On the second day of the Virtual Meet and Greet, the ME League conducted the
Mobile Legends Pre-Season Tournament. The game was participated by ME students
in groups of 5, held in the Mobile Legends application, and broadcasted live on
JPSME’s Facebook page. The commentator of the tournament was Viccel Libradilla.
The tournament ended with Team ML Kunuhay as the victorious winners.

Closing Program

The event officially ended with a posting of winners on JPSME’s Facebook Page.
Certificates of appreciation were also awarded to the ME Faculty; Engr. Umbao, the
webinar’s guest speaker; and to the PSME CHBE Chapter, as a form of gratitude for
the success of the entire event. Certificates of participation and prizes were also given
to the participants of the respective events.
