In my second week of the work immersion, I enjoyed all the days and weeks

that I went through even though it is hard but It is quite fun, I would say it was a great

experience not only to me but to everyone (SHS STUDENTS), not also because it is my

first working experience but because of the reason that I learned a lot of things through

the hands of Ms. Mercedes C. Galang, who is apparently the co-owner of the mikrolab and

the spouse of the owner. I wanted to thank her for accepting us to work with them, she

teaches us how to value things, advising us about life and working experience. She take

care of us even she had a daughter that needs her to be on her side but she’s here with us

to teach us and to help us to find our interest about medicine even though we didn’t meet

her husband, I’m still thankful that she didn’t abandon us even though sometimes their

given task is hard but still, she just want us to push and be ready to our future. I also

wanted to thank the med-tech’s who is always there for us even we’ve known each other

for only 2 weeks but we feel like the bond we had are stronger. In god’s plan, I am very

grateful that I was given a chance to experience and to meet people who I never expected

to be close with.

WEEKLY DIARY
Week 1 (November 5-10, 2018)

Name of Student: BEVERLY JANE L. DATU Grade and Section: STEM 12 - EIFFEL
Job Post: Med-Tech Assistant Immersion Site: MIKROLAB

Assignment: Laboratory and Health Clinic Specialization: STEM
Duration of Work Name of Ms. Mercedes C.
Immersion 80 hours (Nov 5-16, 2018) Trainor/Supervisor: Galang

In the first week of the immersion, I would say I experienced the common

emotion of a person on their first day of job. My first day was tiring but at the same time

it was fun because I got a chance to meet someone who is a registered medical

technology and radio-tech and I also get chance to talk with the patients when it is break

time. At first, I was scared, nervous and shy while staring the mikrolab because of the

reason that it was my first job and I want to experience it nicely, not wanting to hear

some negative feedbacks towards to our colleagues. Meeting the spouse of the owner

who is Ms. Mercedes C. Galang, is a great person. Firstly, I thought she was an ill-

tempered person but it changed my beliefs when we got closer to her even though we

haven’t met the owner or Ms. Galang’s husband, we are thankful that she was looking

forward to teach us and help us to accomplish our dreams and make a right decision to

our future. In the first day, I was assigned to the x-room to help the radiologist with their

works and apparently, I thought they will give me a hard task but I was wrong, all I do is

type and print, repeatedly doing that every time I was on the x-ray room while when I

was in the laboratory, I had to come up with a questions that I needed to be answered

with them so that I don’t catch the feeling of boredom but somehow, even they taught me

some words that was hard to describe, I realized that it catch my attention. I feel like I

wanted to hear those words and just wanna study it. I also realized that the immersion

quite help me to gain knowledge with the work

we wanted to, we are more familiar with the works and to finally find what is the

student’s passion to be more sure about his/her interest. Everything has a reason why

students was deployed to their assigned company. To know what makes a student’s catch

her/his interest but some students went there for only their parent’s choices, not their

interest. Do what makes you happy. Choose a path that you are ready to hold on forever,

not only because of the reason of someone else dream.

This is the place where I had my first work experience. It is a clinic that provides a
comprehensive range of Laboratory, Radiology, ECG Services and Drug Test Screening.

This is what it looks like in the inside and it is also where the patients wait for their turn or to
be seated comfortably.
