The Project Manager is over all responsible for planning, control, monitoring and
executing the project in accordance with the contract documents, specifications, and Local Authority
regulations.

Site Electrical Engineer is responsible to check and ensure the conformity of electrical installations with project
Standards and Local Authority regulations. He is also responsible to ensure that the inspection and testing are
done as per approved quality control procedure/documents.

The Project Engineer is responsible to carry out the work as per approved shop drawings and method
statements. He is also responsible for the inspection and testing of electrical installations as per approved
inspection and test plan. He is directly responsible for the timely executions of all aspect of work in coordination
with the other trades involved in the project.

Safety officer is responsible for the health and safety aspects on site as per the main contractor and company
safety regulations.

F- Installation Instructions
The G-
entire earthing installation will be done in three phases (in the following order):
1. Super-structure: This includes;
 Bonding of the reinforcements (inside the columns) to the entire earth through the use of earth
exothermic welding with the reinforcing bars to be connected to the main loop of the building.
 70mm² bare copper cable will be joined to this pre-welded tail to run through the column to the
120mm² bare copper cable main building earthing loop. .
2. Sub-structure: This includes;
 Excavation for the laying of 70mm² bare copper cable is first done by labor workers under the
supervision of the site supervisor.
 The cables are to be laid at 400mm below ground level exposed to weather in order to aid
conductivity.
 Installation of the earth pits (consisting of inspection pits and earth rods) will then be carried out.
70mm² bare copper cable linking the earth pits shall then be laid into the excavated trenches
and they shall be connected to the earth pits using rod-to-cable clamps.
 The earth pit shall be installed to flush with the final finished floor level in the immediate
surroundings of the building.
 Testing of earth resistance shall then be done using standard earth resistance tester in order to
ascertain if the resistance of earth satisfies the value (<=5ohms).
3. Internal earthing: This includes:
 Installation of the main earth bar of the building (inside the electrical room and low current
specified rooms as per earthing approved shop drawings) is done. The Earth bar is mounted on
the wall inside the room.
 Layinng earthing cables from the earth loop into the building where it will be terminated unto the
earth bar shall then be done.
4. All links between the earth bar and various equipments and distribution boards shall be carried out as
the project progresses.
5. Referring to the approved earthing shopdrawing, whenever the earthing copper tape should be installed
support of tape clips every 3meters is needed.
6. Upon completing the earthing system the earth resistance should be measured using calibrated
equipment in order to satisfy the desired value.
7. In order to improve the earth resistance installing special mixture (salt, charcoal, etc) in the earthpits
under the earth rods is recommended to reach the accepted value.
8. Execution closed.
9. Prepare and submit a request for inspection Form and rectify comments to obtain approval.
