THE APPLICATION TOF THE PRINCIPLE OF CONTINUITY
AND BERNOULI IN EVERYDAY LIFE
A.The principle of continuity
The principle of continuity is a provision which states that for an incompressible
fluid that flows in a steady state,the volume flow rate at each point of the fluid
is the same.The continuity equation or transport equation is an equation that
describes the transport of a quantity.It is very simple and powerful when applied
to a conserved quantity, but can be generalized to apply to a wide quantity.
The application of the principle of continuity in everyday life can be seen
inhose spraying. In spraying slang, the fluid flows from the air tap to the end of
the slang. The pressed slang tip causes the cross-sectional area to decrease. The
reduced cross-sectional area of the hose causes the fluid flow rate to increase.
The same applies to car washes. At a car dealership, the end of the hose has a
smaller diameter than the hose. Therefore, the speed of the jet of air is getting
bigger.

Problems Example
Faucet water with a crossectional area of 2 cm2 fills a bathtub with a volume of
10 liters at a speed of 10 cm/s.How much time will it take to completely fill the
tub?
Answer
We change liters to m3 which is 0,01 m3 and change cm2 to m2
Q=V/t
Q=A . v

t=V/Q
Q=A . v
Q=2 . 10
Q=V/t
20=10/t
t=10/20
t=1/2=0,5s
B.Bernoulli principle
Bernoulli law is a law that applies to dynamic fluids.Remember ,yes,fluid does
not mean water,but a substance that can flow. This means,gas is also included in
it.
Application of Bernoulli law in everyday life:
When we ride a motorcycle in a speeding state, the air velocity in the front and
sides of your body is large.On the other hand,the speed behind your body does
not change to high. As a result, the air pressure behind your body becomes
greater than in the front.well,the difference in air pressure is what makes the air
push your clothes back so that they bulge.
Bernoulli law states that velocity and pressure are inversely related.It is found in
industrial center chimneys.A good chimney will connect to an enclosed
space.Because the room was closed, there was no air blowing,which caused the
pressure tobe great.So,indirectly the smoke will be pressed up to the top of the
chimney.Likewise at the top of the chimney.Because the top of the chimney is
designed to be open,the wind outside the building will blow the top of the
chimney,so that the air pressure around it is reduced and smoke can be blown
out.
