Assignment # 1

Requirements:
Sociologists have in the past several decades developed and refined a specialization called
applied sociology. Like applied psychology, it focuses on coping with problems rather than
studying what causes those problems. In what ways can sociology contribute to the more
effective resolution of social problems at the individual, group, and community levels? Should
we promote development of this sub discipline or would it be better left to the social workers?

Expectations from the Students

 At the first hand, think about how sociology is refined as applied sociology.
 Conceive all the other disciplines and highlighted it with applied sociology. For example:
try to analyze how these all disciplines of Social sciences can be practically implemented
within the social problem for getting best solution. (You may interview someone who is
really in this problem in order to get better grip on the required concepts).
 Now write down the implementation of these solutions specific to the selected problems.

Submission Guidelines:

 How to Submit: Students submitting this assignment should adhere to the following
guidelines:
1. Students are supposed to develop front page with the detailed information
about their name, registration number, submission day and date along with the

the applicable font size and formatting (Font size: 12 and Formatting: Times
New Roman).
3. Each copy of the assignment must be bound using a single staple at the top left
hand corner. Binding using a plastic folder is not required.

 When to Submit: Students are supposed to submit this assignment in their next class.
