TEACHER’S LEARNING PLAN IN GRADE 10 SCIENCE

Activity No. 3 (4th Quarter) Date:

Activity Title: Amonton’s Law/Gay-Lussac’s Law
Learning Target/s: At the end of the lesson the students CAN:
1.1. identify Amontons’ law/Gay-Lussac’s Law;
1.2. explain relationship between pressure and temperature at constant volume; and
1.3 compute given problem using Amontons’ law/ Gay-Lussac’s Law

Values: Develop self confidence

I. Essential Ideas

Gay-Lussac’s Law or (Amonton’s Law)

“the pressure is directly proportional to the Kelvin temperature at

constant volume.”

Gay-Lussac’s law can be expressed as:

Pressure is directly proportional to the temperature

The ratio of pressure and temperature is constant since pressure and temperature are directly proportional.

Correspondingly,
:

II. Learning Experiences

A. Clarifying Understanding
Directions: Solve the given problem. Show your complete solution.

1. A sample of gas at a pressure of 3.00 x 103 mm Hg inside a steel tank is cooled from 500oC to 0oC.
What is the final pressure of the gas inside the steel tank?

2. A scuba tank is filled with air at 16.7 atm at 24oC, but someone leaves it out in the sun to warm to
65oC. What is the new pressure in the tank?

B. Processing Questions
1. Explain why drivers are advised to decrease the pressure of their vehicle’s tires when they travel
during hot days.

2. When you climb a mountain, what changes in pressure and temperature do you observe?
C. Framing Concepts
Directions: On the given graphic organizer below write three important things you have learned from the
lesson.
Gay-Lussac’s
Law

D. Lifelong Learning
Directions: Read and reflect on

 According to Robert Mckee “True character is revealed in the choices a human being makes under
pressure - the greater the pressure, the deeper the revelation, the truer the choice to the character's
essential nature.” What does this mean? How would you relate this to your own personality?
