B.6 Shipping and Packing


B.6.1 Shipping Limitations

No shipping limitation will be imposed by the Employer on the Contractor.

The responsibility will lie on the Contractor whether the dimensions of his supplied equipment and materials in
crate or in box will be appropriate for loading, unloading and transported to the Project Site.

The Contractor must at his own expense, conduct an ocular route survey of all roads, bridges, overpasses, etc.,
from the Port of Entry to the Project Site and examine for himself the conditions of all roads and bridges.

The Contractor shall check the capacity and availability of loading and unloading facilities which will be
utilized in connection with his transport operation, as well as its characteristics, taking appropriate measures to
avoid damaging the same, All costs related to the reinforcements of roads, bridges and the like, if any, shall be
borne by the Contractor. The Contractor shall coordinate his own transport program and shall advise the
proper authorities of the transit of the heaviest items to be transported and shall comply with the instructions
given by said authorities.

All damages caused to public roads, streets or public structures shall be compensated by the Contractor at his
own expense.

B.6.2 Packing

B.7 Mandatory Spares and Spare Parts
B.7.1 The Contractor shall provide spare optical earth wires for the Project. It is understood
that these spares will be used only by the Employer in case of damage or failure
outside the warranty period. The Contractor therefore is obliged to provide sufficient
quantities as replacement for failures during construction and the duration of the
warranty period.

B.10 Other Technical Data for the optical earth wires


B.10.1 The length of the line(s) was given based on preliminary surveys. The supply of OPGW shall be based on this
approximate length accounting for the total sag consumed and the terminations to the splice boxes including
termination of OPGW at the designated joint boxes of Tower at the cut-in point. The structure lists were
appended to the Technical Data Sheets to enable the Contractor to determine the best cutting length per reel of
OPGW and for them to verify the total length given above for OPGW. These entire requirement shall be
included in the pay item “OPGW Requirement for the Project’” in the Bid Price Schedules which payment shall
include all the services stated in the Technical Data Sheets.

B.10.2 The choice of OPGW by the Contractor, whether having a single or double layer to withstand the fault current,
shall be such that the sag of the OPGW when strung shall be approximately equal to that of the overhead ground
wire. When this is not possible, the Contractor shall see to it that the required clearance between the OPGW and
the phase conductors is met. The Contractor shall submit the clearance diagram together with design
computation for Employer’s review and approval.

B.10.3 The associated hardware and accessories are also given in the price schedules on a “Lot” basis. The Contractor is
required to make his own review and assessment of the quantities using the Contractor’s standard practice for
installation.

C.1 The Contractor furnished data and information are included in this Specification to indicate the guaranteed
performance data, predicted performance, interface requirements and construction features of all Contractor

performance requirements specified by the Employer are the sole responsibility of the Contractor.

C.2 Environmental Considerations
