New Zealand approaches its goal of 'no

other country': Extinguishing the Covid-

19 epidemic
New Zealand is one step closer to the goal as the Prime Minister said "there is no
such country in the world that has gained”, which is completely extinguishing the
Covid-19 epidemic.
The nation of 5 million people has so far
avoided widespread outbreaks, and new
Covid-19 cases dwindling from a peak of

Since New Zealand entered the blockade period , until April 22, the country has
recorded 13 deaths from Covid-19, especially low compared to developments in
European and American countries.

"We are facing an opportunity to do something that no country has ever achieved: eliminating the
Coronavirus", Fox News quoted Ms. Ardern's statement to the press on April 21. "However, this goal
continues to need the cooperation of 5 million people”.

According to current blockade orders, schools are closed and the labors  of inessential
occupations can only leave home to go to the market or do exercise. And Google's
mobile data shows the people's high level of compliance with the regulations.

On April 20, Ms. Ardern announced that she would extend the blockade measures for
another week before gradually lifting restrictions on some related employment
restrictions so that the economy could restart. However, most of the remaining
measures are still maintained. Of course, New Zealand is forced to anticipate the risk of
new Covid-19 cases if they decide to reopen the border.
