CONCEPT PAPER
Rationale:
Many accidents occur in schools ranging from minor scrapes and wounds to fractures
and other health problems that require a swift initial medical response. In the event of a
medical emergency, first aid is the initial assistance provided to a child or individual while
waiting for the medical professionals to arrive. In the worst of cases, first aid is the
determining line between life and death.
Providing students and teachers with first aid training helps reduce risk in a disaster
and empower them with the ability to assess and manage the situation in the event of a
medical emergency.
This proposed training provides the expected participants with the life-saving
techniques they need in providing initial response during medical emergencies. “Basic First
Aid Training” equips students with the tools and information they need to offer help from
common situations to more serious circumstances that require immediate action. First aid
training not only provides a valuable life skill, but also teaches people to be more responsible
for the welfare of others; thus, adding an inclusive sense of community within a school.
Moreover, first aid requires leadership, the patience to listen to people, and the
irrefutable need for teamwork. This training helps to build the school populace’s
communication skills, self-confidence, and the ability to work well with others. Over all, this
“Basic First Aid Training” helps build these skills, which are incredibly versatile and will
continue to assist students long into their lives.
Objectives:
This training is designed to train selected students and teachers about the basic
standards of first aid, to impart a wide spectrum of knowledge spanning the basic principles
of immediate action to be taken in emergency situations, and consolidating such knowledge
through the discussion and hands-on practice on numerous common scenarios.
Target Participants: Presidents and Vice Presidents of every classroom, SRCY officials and
members, Selected Teachers
Target Outcomes:
