Very good! Our lesson for today is all about the Four Types
of Conflict. Now, everybody please read our lesson’s
objectives.

II. LESSON PROPER


1. Activity
The teacher will present different pictures and let
the students identify the protagonist and
antagonist in the given pictures.

Protagonist- Batman
Antagonist- Joker

Protagonist- Thanos
Antagonist- Iron Man

Protagonist- Alice
Antagonist- Red Queen

2. Analysis
 How are you able to identify the
protagonist and antagonist in the (Illicit students’ responses)
pictures?

 How will you differentiate the Protagonist- is the central character/main character of
protagonist and antagonist? the story.
Antagonist- is the opposing character.

3. Abstraction
Protagonist- is the central character/main
character of the story.

Antagonist- is the opposing character.

Conflict- is a struggle or a problem between


opposing characters or opposing forces.
Some stories can have multiple conflicts. It
can either be internal conflict or external
conflict.
(The students will listen as the teacher discusses the
Internal Conflict- refers to an inner conflict lesson.)
within the main character. This kind of
conflict is called Person vs. Self which
happens within the character’s mind.

External Conflict-refers to the opposition


between an individual and other
character/forces.
3 Kinds of External Conflict
 Man vs. Man-opposition between the
main characters and others characters
in the story.
 Person vs. Society-this type of
conflict happens when the character
has a problem with the society in
which they live in, including laws or
beliefs or groups.
 Person vs. Nature- this is when the
main character’s problem is a natural
force. Like a predatory animal, a
typhoon, or a contagious diseases.

4. Application:
The students will be grouped into two.
GROUP 1- identify the protagonist and
antagonist/antagonistic force of the given
scenario and identify whether the conflict is
EXTERNAL (Man vs. Man, Person vs.
Society, Person vs. Nature) or INTERNAL
(Person vs. Self)

GROUP 2- give possible solutions to the


given conflict/s.

The teacher will ask:


 Do you think conflict is important in
every story? Why? Yes, Ma’am because the conflict creates a tension in the
story, making the readers more interested. It also
increases awareness of problems that exist and provides
a reason for finding a better way to make things better.
 Is it important to solve conflict in
non-violent ways? Why? Yes, Ma’am because solving conflict in non-violent
ways achieves the best result and is the best way of
solving conflict.
 In what subject/s can we integrate
this lesson? Filipino and ESP, Ma’am.
