A Semi Detailed Plan in MATH 8

February 26, 2020 (Wednesday)

I. OBJECTIVES:

At the end of 60 minutes, the students are expected to determine the conditions under which lines and
segments are parallel or perpendicular

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

Topic/Lesson: Conditions the Guarantee Parallelism

References: Exploring Math Textbook pp. 406-416

Curriculum Guide M8GE-IVd-1

Materials: Power Point Presentation, Show me card, Felt Tip Pen, Score Board

Values Integration: Parallel Parking

III. PROCEDURES:

A. Greetings:

Good Morning Class! May I know from the attendance officer who’s in/out today?

B. Review:

Recall the relationship between pairs of angles formed by parallel lines cut by a transversal using an
illustration.

C. Presentation of the Lesson:

The teacher will present to the students the conditions under which lines and segments are parallel or
perpendicular

D. Development of the Lesson:

Conduct a whole-class discussion on various conditions under which lines and segments are parallel or
perpendicular
Discuss worked examples to illustrate this conditions.
After the discussion, group students into 5 and let them perform the activity regarding the conditions that
guarantee parallelism (in a form of contest)

E. Points for Integration: Parallel Parking

F. Generalization of the Lesson

As a synthesis on the lessons learned, let the students determine the conditions that guarantee
parallelism.
IV. EVALUATION:
A. Name the postulate or theorem that allows you to conclude that a ║b.

B. Explain why a ║b if:

V. ASSIGNMENT:
Which lines are parallel if given the following conditions? State the postulate or theorem that justifies your conclusions.
