Activity #5
Are these values based on your ranking define your life and the kind of life
that you have?
Yes. It only shows how I value God more than anyone and anything else,
because I believe that God is our Creator and that I owe my life to Him. I also
value my family more than I value myself because I love them more. I am the
type of person who can sacrifice even my life for my family. They say, “You
cannot give what you do not have.”, so I value myself next to my family. For me
to be able to love my friends and other people, which are also part of my
objective values, I first need to love myself. This includes self-respect, self-
compassion, self-happiness, etc.
With my subjective values, I think I value money a lot, because I know the
reality of life. I know how it feels to not have money to buy even the most basic
needs to live. I know that in order to survive, we need money. I also know how
hard it is to earn money as I have experienced it before. Without money, you
cannot do many things. I also value my time with my friends because those are
one of my happiest times. I forget my problems when I spend time with them and
I can share my experiences and relate to them. I think I value photographs of me

with the people I am with because these are evidence of memories. Some events
and encounters are once in a lifetime but with photographs, I can go back to that
event or encounter and remember the exact feelings over and over again.
Are there things you value so much which are not supposed to be regarded
as such, because they are subjective values and not objective values? Are
there things you value less or placed at the bottom of your hierarchy of
values though by their nature they are supposed to be on the top, for they
are objective or spiritual values? Yes/No. Why?
