“We’re not quitting, just down-sizing,” Dave Pippin
said of himself and fellow musician Tim Sampson’s
decision of selling off some equipment that has
entertained folks from northeast Montana and beyond
for decades. They’re simply a couple of music lovers
that want to pass their tried-and-true instruments on,
hoping to keep the passion local, as they’re having
their Inventory Liquidation Musical Instrument and
Equipment Sale which begins this Saturday, February
5th. Not worried about making money, they want to
pass this equipment on at a reasonable price — just
trying to spread the wealth of music. That guitar that
Dave is holding happens to be a Gibson S1. It began
production in mid-1974, and debuted in 1975 with

endorsements from Carlos Santana as well as Rolling
Stones guitarists Ronnie Wood and Keith Richards.
The S-1 enjoys an afterlife as a vintage guitar. In 2020
Angel Olsen gravitated towards the instrument for its
ability to produce a variety of tone colors. Dave’s Gibson
guitar is up for grabs via silent auction. Everything else
(electric and acoustic guitars, mixers, amplifiers, PA
systems, wireless mic system and much, much more
sells on a first-come, first-serve basis. Located at 150
Heather Lane (log cabin across from the cemetery)

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT
Kate Parks is the daughter of Pat and Kellie Parks.
She has been skating for 13 years. She is the first skater to
start as a preschooler and continue through her senior
year with the Learn to Skate program. She has completed
the Basic Skills, Free Skate, and dance programs and is
now an instructor with the HiLine Skating program.
Kate has many fond memories of skating; she really
enjoys preparing and performing for the showcase.
Some funny memories she has are when she tried to
skate with her skate guards on and ruing one of the
performances she and her students hit a rough patch of
ice and they all fell down like dominoes.
She likes sharing her skating skills with others and
loves seeing her students learn to skate. Her biggest
accomplishments are learning new tricks and being able
to help advanced skaters lear them, too. Her future plans
are to attend Utah State University to study statistics and
looks forward to being a part of their skating program.
Kate’s advice to younger skaters is, “Don’t give up
and have fun!”
