III. PROJECT BACKGROUND

The proponents of Tres Ma'Rice are as follows: Krizzelle Plana, Reselle Morden

and Ma. Cristina Agustin, who are all graduates of Bachelor of Science in Business

Administration major in Financial Management at Core Gateway College Inc. All of the

each. All proponents have promised to evenly share any earnings, liabilities or losses.

3.2 Proposed Name of the Business

A business name is also the foundation of trademark design, which can be of

significant value if you ever want to franchise or sell your business. Some people may

think the business model is more important than the name, but a good business name

certainly can't hurt your prospects. If a business owners want customers to be able to

find them, talk about their business and recommend them, they need a business name,

which should define who they are, identify what they sell and help to impress buyers.

Tres Ma'Rice is our proposed business name because our group has three women.

It represents that the three of them are in charge of the business. And it is derived from

the familiar word of the Filipinos for the woman Maria's and the word Tres Maria's is

also used in many words. We thought of this because we know it will be more

recognizable immediately because of the name of our business which is very familiar to

people because it will brand our name when they buy our product because our business

name is popular. One of the most important things in human life is our business Bigas

(rice) because it is the main food of the Filipinos and is known as the country of the

Philippines as a producer of rice. Combined the word Tres Maria's and our bigas business

which in English is rice that is why it became Tres Ma'Rice.

3.3 Type of Business Organization

Tres Ma’Rice business type of organization is general partnership. A general

partnership is the shared ownership of a business by two or more people. Like a sole

proprietorship, there is no legal separation between the business and the individual

partners. A general partnership allows each partner to act independently, pool resources,

avoid high startup costs, and avoid large amounts of formalities. However, the partners

must be able to accept potentially unequal contributions of time and resources, fully trust

the business judgment of every other partner, and be willing to take on the risk of being

fully and personally responsible for the business’s debts and liabilities. Also, each person

should bear in mind that there is no default structure for resolution of partner conflicts.

That is, no one individual’s decisions govern any of the other partners unless a

customized partnership agreement says so. As shown in table 1, there are three general

partners inside the business organization, and the percentages of share are divided equally

with 33.3 percent. The owners decided to form a general partnership because it

is simpler, cheaper, and requires less paperwork than forming a corporation and they will

have equal rights in all aspects of their business.

3.4 Location of the Business

The Tres Ma’Rice is located at Maharlika Highway Barangay Abar 1st, San Jose

City Nueva Ecija. The location is along the highway near a bakery, Petron Gasoline

Station and Christian Village that gives accessibility to people. It is a perfect place for

rice retailing business because other than Tres Ma’Rice, there is no rice retailing business

exists in the area. Owners have decided to put the business outside the city proper since

there will be less competition in the market that can lead to business’ growth. With the

strategic location to establish the business, there will be a higher percentage that people

living and near the area would patronize the Tres Ma’Rice products.

4.2 Management Principle

 Division of Work

Every employee has their own areas of specialization. This principle is based on

the idea that if employees are given a specialized task to complete, they will

become more skilled and efficient at it than if they were given a broader range of

tasks. As a result, a process in which everyone plays a certain job will be efficient.

 Authority and Responsibility

The principle of management authority is examined in this premise. It examines

the role of authority in ensuring that managerial orders are followed out.

Managers would be unable to complete tasks if they lacked authority. Managers

should exercise their power in a responsible and ethical manner. To ensure

considerable labor productivity, management will delegate control to a proper

authority who will give commands and orders to its subordinates.

 Discipline

This principle refers to the fact that an organization's effectiveness depends on its

ability to maintain discipline. Organizational beliefs, regulations, and structures

must all be followed. Managers must create a culture of mutual respect and

incentive in order to have disciplined employees.

 Unity of Command
Within an organization, there should be a clear chain of command. An employee

should be able to identify whose orders he or she should follow.

 Unity of Direction

Work should be organized so that employees are working together toward a

common goal or target, using a common method or procedure. Each of the

employee’s tasks must be consistent and related to the company’s goals.

 Remuneration

Employees should be paid a suitable rate for the work they do in order to motivate

them and to be fair to them. A company that underpays its employees will have a

difficult time attracting qualified and enthusiastic employees.

 The Degree of Centralization

This principle concerns whether choices should be made centrally from the top

down or democratically from the bottom up. For different types of decisions,

different decision-making techniques are acceptable.

 Order

This has to do with the efficient utilization of resources and the systematic

deployment of those resources. Employees must have the appropriate resources at

their disposal in order to function successfully.

 Equity
Managers should treat their subordinates with integrity. Almost every modern

firm will have a written set of rules and procedures that detail exactly what is

expected of employees at all levels.

 Stability of Tenure Personnel

A low worker turnover rate is regarded as desirable inside an organization. This is

due to the advantages of having experienced employees and the time and money

required to teach new ones. Any employee vacancies that arise should be filled in

a clear and effective manner. The service delivered within the organization should

be on par with the deployment and management of staff.

 Initiative

Employees that have an input as to how to best do their job are likely to feel more

motivated and respected. Many organizations place a great deal of emphasis on

listening to the concerns of staff. Employees should be encouraged to express

ideas by the management.

 Spirit de Corps

Maintaining a high level of morale and team spirit is critical to running the most

productive business possible. Employees that are happy and motivated are

significantly more likely to be productive and absent. Spirit de Corps means

employee involvement and devotion to the management.

4.3 Leadership and Management Style

Connecting daily tasks to business objectives

In Tres Ma'Rice the most important thing that they do is to make sure that the

team is aware to know that the main goal is to become successful. They need to
connect to their team or worker that the hard work is the key to become

successful. Even they are not the owner of the business. If they are become

successful, all the team has benefits to give because this is for all the hard work

that they do in the business.
