DINALUPIHAN, BATAAN
In line with the campaign of the Department of Education (DepEd ) in equipping the school personnel and children
with the knowledge, proper attitude and skills on what to do in case of a natural disaster like earthquake.
According to Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) the drill is an information and education campaign
to ensure individual awareness in case of earthquake and its hazards. Amid the on going pandemic, the movement is
limited to abide by the minimum health standards, especially safe physical distancing. Awareness is just the first
step, especially the duck, cover and hold response. It is the opportune time to test the efficiency and usefulness of
the preparedness, response and recovery plan to be alert also to test the proper coordination and communication
mechanism during response operation.
Kataasan Elementary School conducted its quarterly earthquake drill in the school March 10, 2022 at exactly 8
o’clock in the morning. The school DRRM coordinator, Mrs. Karen M. Caole, led the activity with the teachers and
their pupils at home after participated on the online ceremonial pressing of the button.
Teachers, pupils together with their parents ducked and covered themselves under the tables. After that the teachers
led in heading to the designated evacuation area located outside school in the open space which is the oval track and
field area. Then the School DRRM coordinator did a headcount to make sure that all teachers are safe. The drill was
carried out simultaneously and smoothly.
Attached here are the photos before and during the earthquake drill.
