This week at my internship I had more sessions with father’s coming in and I ended up

teaching the doctor dad class over the safe child that went very well. Most of what happened this

week was a repeat of past weeks and nothing new and significant happened besides the class

taught. For something different this week I continued to work on my board proposal letter.

This week we had a few fathers who wanted to parent their kids and we had one father

who wanted a abortion because he was worried about not being able to give his child a good life.

We spoke with him during the counseling session about what makes him feel like he was not

prepared to be a parent and his answer was first he didn’t even want a kid he was just trying to

sleep with his partner. Then he went on to talk about how he is still in college and even though

his and her family would help take care of the kid he didn’t want to put his time towards a kid.

His partner wanted to keep the child and stated that she planned on keeping their child whether

he was involved or not. After speaking into the support that child will need from the presence of

a father and the mother will need the support to carry and nurture, he seemed more receptive. He

wanted to think it over and talked about discussing with his partner again.

The class I taught this week over the safe child went well and I was also able to bring

information from some of the classes at GCSU into the class to teach the father’s over nutrition

for infants and toddlers as well as the risk of pathogens and chemicals.
