There was a staff orientation held on Monday, January 10 where we became familiar with our
goals, expectations of one another, as well as the various technologies that the GC Women’s
Center and LGBTQ+ programs utilize. This training consisted of a basic introduction to
responsibilities that are expected throughout the semester. Additionally, we were able to refill the
menstruation stations throughout campus and this made resources accessible to students/faculty
if they may need it. Furthermore, we were given six readings for the week that serve to describe
the role of campus-based women’s centers, how they dismantle hierarchical structures, and the
impact they make. It is expected that these readings can be discussed and reflected on among our
Tuesday, I got a later start due to an appointment but I managed to make up the hour missed later
in the week. We were able to discuss potential ideas for projects that we’re supposed to work
toward throughout the semester. Although we have yet to be put into “work groups”, we were all
able to brainstorm ideas, discuss how they’d be implemented and decide whether they’d be
useful. We decided that another Sex-ed fest would be both useful to GC students and something
Wednesday was the day we received our shifts and put into “work groups” where we’ll be
collaborating on different programs based on their focus. For example, I was put in a group for
wellness and sexual assault awareness month. Therefore, I’ll be able to develop on-going ideas
Thursday, I was able to meet with my actual work groups and brainstorm ideas to start planning
some of these programs. I mentioned that January is Cervical Cancer awareness month, and it
would be helpful if we had an informational booth about HPV and how it relates to Cervical
Friday, we had a staff meeting where we went over expectations regarding program planning and
how many events should be planned and held from each focus group.

Monday, January 16, the GC Women’s Center and LGBTQ+ Programs was closed in observance
of MLK day.
Tuesday, we had “class” where we discussed the readings assigned the previous week. The
discussion centered around the “feminist teacher” and how they empower students to understand
that knowledge is not neutral. Dr. Graham and Melissa were there to give us ideas on how to
organize sex (ed) fest in order to make sure we all have contributed a substantial amount to the
project itself. We discussed having sex (ed) fest be a weeklong event held right before Spring
Women’s Center & LGBTQ Programs. First, we discussed Sexual Assault Awareness Month and
what potential events, or programs can be implemented there. We narrowed it down to four ideas
and are awaiting approval from Dr. Graham and Melissa. Similarly, the wellness group discussed
potential ideas for our first event. We narrowed our ideas to 4 (they would be implemented
Thursday, we worked on the organization aspect of our events and decided on dates when they
will be held. We can start the process of getting all aspects of programs approved now that the
dates are picked. There is a basic checklist available for planning an event or implementing a
program that should pending approval from both Dr. Graham and Melissa.
Friday, we all met for a staff meeting. During the meeting, we checked in and discussed where
our work groups were regarding planning our first events. I was also responsible for refilling the
empty menstruation stations as well as implementing new ones into the new building or in those
that didn’t have one. Throughout the week, I learned what it means to be a part of campus-based
organization that inspires true change. I also learned how important time management and

Eve Ensler We decided to meet on two occasions where participants have read the book prior to
both meetings and we’ll reflect on how things like fat phobia, generational body trauma, and diet
culture have influenced our self-perceptions. I oversee the marketing aspect of this event and
have started to organize information for the graphic (and get the details approved by my
supervisor) that will be posted on front page and the GC Women’s Center and LGBTQ+
Programs.
Tuesday, interns had “class” at the Hub where we discussed the readings that were assigned for
that week. A key takeaway from the assigned readings was recognizing one’s own advantages
when it comes to race, gender, sexual orientation, class, ability, ect. I felt that discussing these
Wednesday, I was able to meet with my Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) group and
we discussed ideas and dates for the month of April. We know the dates for “Take Back the
Night” and “Denim Day” but we are still discussing other potential ideas and how we want to
implement them.
Thursday, I was able to meet with the other interns and discuss sex {ed} fest. We have been
given the approval to start planning and getting into contact with those organizations that are
going to be involved in the event. In my case, it will be DPH since my topic is STD/STI testing
and information. I know some students aren’t sure where these resources are located and how
Friday, I did not attend my internship due to a last-minute opportunity I decided to take. I
understand that I’m not “on track” with my hours thus far but I plan on making them up as the
semester goes on and there will be opportunities for me to earn hours over the weekend.

Monday, I continued to organize the logistics for “The Good Body” book club that the GC
Women’s Center and LGBTQ+ Programs is hosting on February 16 and 23rd. I made a sign-up
form using Microsoft and plan on including the link with the graphic that will be posted to front
page. My hope is that people are interested in attending and discussing key takeaways from the
book and how it relates to generational body trauma, diet culture, and fat phobia. My team and I
all decided that this upcoming week would be the best time to start marketing it. Kayla and I also
met with the interns from the Wellness Center, and we talked about collaborating on a Body
Positivity pool party however, we ran into some communication issues, and we worked on
Tuesday, I attended my internship class at the HUB, and we talked through the assigned readings
for this week. The theme was feminist standpoint theory and the waves of it throughout history.
We talked about how we can incorporate feminist standpoint theory into the programs/events we
implement.
Wednesday, I was able to meet with the SAAM (sexual assault awareness month) team and we
discussed dates and key events that will be held through the month of April. Take back the Night
and Denim Day have already started to be planned. I am in charge of marketing for this event, so
Thursday, Kayla and I were able to refill the menstruation stations in many bathrooms around
campus. A student stopped us and thanked us for refilling them because they were in a situation
where they needed these resources, and they were immediately accessible.
Friday, I worked the front desk from 11 AM to 3PM and made sure students were greeted when
they walked up the stairs into the Women’s Center. I also answered the phone and made sure
students or faculty were able to reach the right person or resource. At the front desk we provide
free condoms, buttons, and informational pamphlets that students can pick up.

Weekly Journal 5: Monday, I was able to meet with the wellness group to discuss the logistics
of a “Body Positive Pool Party” as well as a mindfulness event. We were able to establish a plan
with the Wellness and Recreation Interns and decided that it would be best if we separated the
movie and pool party into two events/programs. Kayla and I are still working on the marketing
aspect of the body positive pool party but have already posted “The Good Body” book club
graphic on The GC Women’s Center Instagram, GC Connect, and the newsletter. So far, we have
gotten 2 responses on our form and I’m hoping the participation in this event goes up, even if
participants only attend one of the two discussion opportunities. I feel that it is a powerful read
Tuesday, I attended “class” with Dr. Graham & Melissa and the other interns. This week’s theme
was patriarchy. I found it useful that they provided podcasts and Ted talks and not just articles or
journals we are required to read. I also found it helpful to discuss patriarchy and how it functions
in society. Furthermore, we all discussed how we can apply what we’ve learned each week to
Wednesday, SAAM (Sexual Assault Awareness Month) & Sex {Ed} Fest met, and we discussed
key tasks and what our personal project vision is beginning to look like. SAAM has many events
going on throughout the month of April such as “Take Back the Night, “Denim Day” and we’re
currently planning a teal-guided hike and looking into the logistics of a “Concert for Consent”. I
have drafted an email to Kim Griffin regarding DPH’s participation in Sex {Ed} Fest and I am
awaiting approval from both Jenn & Melissa. Additionally, I am working on constructing a plan
Thursday, Kayla and I refilled the Menstruation Stations throughout campus, and I worked on
marketing for The Body Positive Pool Party that we are hosting on March 1st. My 25live request

participants. I have emailed Steven Wright to ask if they had any sort of games we could play in
Friday, I worked the front desk and phone for the first half of the day and referred students to the
correct resources. I also attended a staff meeting where I updated my supervisors on what I had
been working on throughout the week with my teammates. On a professional note, I attended a

Sciences program. I thought it was interesting and helped me understand that I’m moving in the
right direction.I feel as though this week I learned that good public health doesn’t happen in a

Monday, I met with my wellness group where we discussed some of the success and areas
needed for improvement of “The Good Body” Book Club. “The Good Body” Book club was my
first event with the Women’s Center & LGBTQ+ programs and I really hope that participants
gained an appreciation for themselves and their bodies. We talked about how the discussion went
and we all felt that the conversation flowed well but, we hoped that everyone would share their
thoughts or experiences. We concluded that having a facilitator wasn’t enough, and for the next
and final meeting, we decided to discuss restorative justice style so that everyone gets a chance
Tuesday, I attended the intern class with Melissa & Jenn. This week’s theme was
intersectionality. I have been familiar with the term for a while, but I don’t think I truly
understood what it meant until now. It’s important to apply the different frameworks and theories
Wednesday, I was able to meet with the other interns for Sex [Ed] Fest. Some general updates
are: DPH has confirmed their participation. They’re providing free HIV testing to students on
campus during the festival as well as a table with promotional materials for their STD, PrEP, and
Family Planning Services. I will also be hosting a student-led “lunch and learn” centered around
STD/STI prevention (especially those with higher incidence among college students) and
Thursday, I got a chance to refill the menstruation stations around campus. I also got
confirmation from that the Brighthouse would like to participate in Sex [ed] Fest where they will
provide information about their organization as well as their role in the Baldwin community.
Friday, I worked out the final details of my “Lunch & Learn: Knowledge is Power, Get Tested!”.
I put in a space reservation for the first floor of Blackbridge Hall and I also put in a catering
order through Sodexo. Additionally, I am constructing the objectives for the student-led
discussion and gathering statistics related to STD’S/STI’S from the 2021 National College

Monday, I only met with the other interns to discuss Sex [Ed] Fest. I couldn’t get into contact
with someone from DPH to confirm the HIV testing at the festival. I decided to go there and
leave a handwritten note to the nurse (Carrie Dyer) I had been contacting via E-mail. I think Ms.
Dyer appreciated my initiative because she got back to me at the end of the day to confirm
testing and gave me the contact to the person who will be providing it. I was also able to get a
confirmation E-mail (for organizations who have accepted our invitation to table at Sex [Ed]
fest) approved by my supervisors. We also constructed a rain plan in case we can’t have it
outside.

constructed a confirmation E-mail to all organizations that accepted our invitation to participate.
Tuesday was the day of my event, and I was able to print 20 of my brochures that I made as well
as the discussion questions for attendees. I also had to go pick up the catering order from Max. I
provided participants with lunch and an educational discussion surrounding STIs. The event
went well however, I think conversation would’ve flowed better if I provided more of an
Wednesday, I sent the Sex [Ed] Fest confirmation E-mail to all organizations. A few requested
visitor parking passes so Jared and I requested them. I also made 10 yard signs so that students
would know where to go if they wished to get tested for HIV during the event. Since we chose to
keep Sex [Ed] Fest outside, we needed to reserve a nearby classroom for the testing.
Thursday, I was helping set up for Sex [Ed] Fest all day and was able to check each organization
in when they arrived. Since I oversaw the HIV rapid testing, I was able to coordinate that and
help students find the testing area. I feel like Sex [Ed] Fest went well and hopefully created a

Tuesday, I was able to attend the intern class with my supervisors. This week’s theme was
interpersonal violence and sexual assault. I found it useful to discuss the implications of the two
on college campuses and received some statistics that helped me better understand the
prevalence.
Wednesday, I was able to meet with the SAAM group and we finalized logistics of the events
planned for the month of April. Take Back the Night is one of our main events and I oversaw
reaching out to counseling services to ensure that during the survivor speak out, participants
would have the opportunity to speak with a licensed professional confidentially. I also ensured
that each social media post had a caption and blurb that described the event.
Thursday, I was able to refill the menstruation stations around campus and ensured that students
had access to these resources if need be. I was also able to finalize details of my resume and
cover letter. I also was able to discuss logistics of the sign making party we are hosting for take
