The following table lists units in common use for speed and their abbreviations.
To find the total distance travelled, we simply multiply the given speed and time.
Distance = speed x time
= 55 x 4
= 220 km
ANSWER :220 kilometers
The teacher will explain the easiest way to remember the formula for speed (S),
Distance (D), and time (T) by using a magic triangle.
Distance
Example : Calculate the distance that you will travel if you will drive
for 3.5 hours at 75 km/h.
D=SxT
= 75 km/h x 3.5 h
Distance = 262.5 km
ANSWER: 262.5 kilometers
Speed
Example : A car travels 120 km in 2 hours; find the speed of the car.
S = 𝐷 /𝑇
= 120 𝑘𝑚/ 2 ℎ
Speed = 60 km/h
ANSWER: 60 km/h
Example: Find the speed when, distance is 304 km and time is 4 hours.
S = 𝐷 𝑇/ = 304 𝑘𝑚/ 4 ℎ
Speed = 76 km/h
ANSWER: 76km/h
Time
Example: A bus travelled 252 kilometers at 72 km/h. How long does it
travel?
T = 𝐷/𝑆
= 252 𝑘𝑚 72 𝑘𝑚/ℎ Time
= 3.5 hours
ANSWER: 3.5 hours
Example: How long does it take to travel 180 kilometers at 45 km/h?
T = 𝐷/𝑆
= 180 𝑘𝑚 45 𝑘𝑚/ℎ
Time = 4 hours
ANSWER: 4 hours
The teacher will present the activity open the box (WORLD WALL)
The teacher will group the pupils and give them time to do the activities in
