ACTIVITY COMPLETION REPORT (ACR)

Title of Activity: Home-Based Early Grades Reading Assessment and Interventions


Date: March-July 2021
Venue: Paniqui South Central Elementary school
Participants: Teachers, Home-based learning facilitators, Grade 1 to Grade 3 pupils
Description: Home-Based Early Grades Reading Assessment and Interventions is an
individualized assessment and tailor-made intervention program for each learner
thru the assistance and guidance of an identified home-based learning
facilitator
Objectives: a) to assess the foundational skills for literacy acquisition of learners in early
grades of primary
b) to gather information on learners reading ability utilizing home-based learning
modality
c) to enable teachers to give meaningful and appropriate interventions after the
assessment process
Preliminaries: An orientation was conducted among the teachers from Grades 1 to 3. Then,
class advisers had their virtual/face-to-face orientation to the parents on how to
administer the following activities: a)pre-assessment; b)remediation/
interventions and c) post-assessment.

Actual Target/Outcome: Developed reading fluency, decoding skill and comprehension

Rationale: Literacy skill development is one of the basic goals of elementary education . Since
the initial implementation of MTB-MLE, there have been efforts to gather data on reading
competencies in the early grades through EGRA. This assessment aims to identify the state of
learning outcomes in the early grades, when learners are expected to gain the foundational
reading skills upon which all later learning is built.

Narration of Accomplishment: March 23, 2021 teachers from Paniqui South Central joined the
orientation on Home-Based Early Grades Reading Assessment and Interventions where
in the mechanics and the implementation process was discussed. It was followed by
parents’ orientation by each class adviser. A pre-assessment was done from March to
May 2021. The results of the assessment served as basis on employing appropriate and
meaningful remediation/intervention to identified learners. Such intervention was given
from April to July. Lastly, post-assessment was done on July 2021.
