Fire/Earthquake Awareness “The Big One” lecture/discussion

A fire drill is a method of practicing the evacuation of a building from a fire .Usually the fire
alarm or the smoke detector sounds and the building is evacuated as though a real fire had
occurred. Usually, the time it takes to evacuate is measured to ensure that it occurs within a
reasonable length of time, and problems with the emergency system or evacuation procedures are
identified to be remedied.
Fire is the result of a chemical reaction, called combustion. At a certain point in the
combustion reaction, called the ignition point, flames are produced. When an unwanted fire
happens in particular establishment or even at home, this may destroy many lives and
properties. Also one of the disaster that we may encounter is an earthquake,it is a natural disaster
that cannot be detected when and where it would be happened,In compliance on the Philippine
Disaster Reduction and Management Act (RA 10121) the Apalit High School conduct a
lecture/discussion on Fire/Earthquake Awareness “The Big One”to the learners last May 31,2022
(Tuesday) simultaneously from 8:00 to 10:00 in the morning. The lecture/discussion was facilitated
by the SDRRM Committees and MAKABAYAN Teachers. It was attended by 201 students who are
under the limited face to face classes. It is evident that the students learned from the lecture/discussion
because based on their reflection, they have learned the different fire extinguishers and where it is
use for. They also learned the dont’s and do’s when earthquake and fire occurs. This activity is of
tremendous help to the students to be alert, prepared and awake when earthquake and fire
happens.
