1.Introduction
As opined by Denan et al., (2020, p. 1122), e-learning is considered as using networking
technologies for designing, delivering, selecting, extending learning and administering. The
possess of e-learning can be evaluated by the process in which the students can learn their
lessons online and consider distance learning. This technological learning is managed by a
learning management system (LMS). Through e-learning technology, the students who are
availing this can get an online book, pdf and other essential files related to their study
material. E-learning technology provides time flexibility and motivates the students to
conduct the task on their own. In this paper the impact on students and the increasing use of
e-learning at the time of covid-19 pandemic has been discussed.

2.Body- 2.1 Positive and Negative effects of E-learning on students (2 positive and 2
negatives)
Positive Effect (Developing the Time Management Skills, Developing Digital skills)

Developing the Time Management Skills: Regardless of any working status a person
needs to manage the time at the working place. As stated by Baker et al., (2019, p. 522),
Time management is considered to be the most important skill a person needs to have. For
discussing the impact of e-learning on a student's life, the students who used to avail the e-
learning facility started to learn how to manage their time. In regular learning a student has a
specific place to learn and specific time for the class has been allocated by the institute
management. However, in e-learning the students and the teachers have not provided such
time allocation. The students learn to manage their time by their own practice and improving
performance. As opined by Ahmad Uzir et al., (2020, p. 71). In this process of managing
time the students have given their effort at the beginning however with the passage of time
they applied strategies to manage their study time to balance their life easily. By developing
the time management skill, the students can become top in their class and also become
efficient to submit their assignments according to deadlines.

Developing Digital skills:  As Stated by Klingenberg et al., (2020, p. 35), Basic knowledge
in development of digital skills is important for any industry. The students used to go to their
institute for education and for learning the digital skills they used to take extra classes and
avail extra training regarding that. However due to the upgradation in learning methods, the
students nowadays are availing their learning through online platforms and due to that they
learn online digital skills and methods at the time of learning. Ability in computer literacy is
important for any job market. Everything is becoming dependable on digital platforms and

3
due to that faster growing world the students need to adapt more digital skills than they did
before. By availing the e-learning the students start using more digital processors including
word, PowerPoint, docs, and other Microsoft applications (Tohara, 2021, p. 3346). They also
started to learn to avail digital meetings and for aiming to meet strict deadlines of submitting
their assignments and complete their class they start focusing on faster digital skills than
they used before.

Negative Effect (Lack of Understanding and Communication gap)

Lack of understanding: According to Sari et al., (2020) the present core curricular of e-
learning it has been observed that the students suffer from lack of understanding. During
online study there are many students who fail to understand their lessons due to various
reasons. The most common reason for lack of understanding is lack of motivation which
creates lack of interest in learning. Due to the lack of interest students may not be able to
give their effort to learn new things and become distracted by other stuff. As the learning
becomes online so the students also may not contact their professor if they fail to
understand any part of their lesson. Lack of interest shows poor performance and poor
quality of assignments delivered by the students. As stated by Goodrich et al., (2020, p. 48)
The other reason for lack of understanding was that the lesson that the teachers are
teaching is too advanced and too tough to understand for students. The allocated teachers
for those lessons may not be able to teach properly and make the lesson easy to understand
for the students. It has been also observed that the students should not consent about the
understanding of the students in e-learning as they fail to ask each of the students about the
understanding of the lesson which they used to do in the physical classroom.

Effect in communication gap: There are many students who prefer physical availability of
classroom rather than online classroom. Due to the e-learning communication gap between
the teachers and students the whole motive of e-learning has failed. This gap may be
extended due to the lack of motivation which lacks the learning ability of the students
(Whittaker and Davison, 2020, p. 874).  When the students become demotivated they used
to become distracted by other things during the online session. As the teachers fail to give
as much attention to each of the students as they gave before, de-motivation becomes
extraordinarily effective in creating a gap in communication (Abrams and Greenhawt, 2020,
p. 1792). The teachers may not use adaptive languages and adaptive terms of speeches
and for which the students cannot get what their teachers communicate. It has been
identified that the teachers sometimes used difficult phrases or long sentences that created
the lesson less adaptive for the students and communication gap has been established.

2.2 How E-learning has affected you as a student?
According to my point of view e-learning has affected me in both positive and negative ways.
In this new era of study everything becomes technologically improved and due to the lack of
physical appearance the understanding of study becomes difficult (Entschew, 2021, p. 10). I
have analyzed that e-learning is a little tough to adapt to my lack of knowledge in digital
equipment. After a sudden start of e-learning due to the distance learning I am availing this
digital learning process. However, when I have started to learn the appropriate use of digital
applications I am able to adapt to e-learning easily. I have started to focus on my
communication skills. When the study was based on the physical classroom, I was able to
go to my professor after the class and ask them out for help to make me understand the
lesson again and all of these were held face-to -face. However due to the e-learning method
I was unable to contact my teachers to some extent after the class had ended.

Apart from this I have improved my time management skills during e-learning as I have to
meet strict deadlines to submit the assignments and tasks provided by my professionals and
balance my life with this time management skill easily. E-learning helps me establish my
comprehensive and dynamic learning in my real life. Regardless of the negative impact
during the e-learning process, such as communication gap, lack of understanding and
knowledge of technological use, e-learning helps me to individualize my ability to learn new
things. I have learnt to complete my tasks and assignments on my own and deliver it on
time.

During e-learning sometimes I found myself a little stressful because of the relevant situation
of covid-19 pandemic, I have forced to isolated myself at my home and due to that i was not
able to go outside to meet with my friends and others, I was also unable to go to my
extracurricular classes. The only thing I have to do is stay at home and spend the most of
the time in e-learning sessions and also after the end of the session, I have to work on my
assignments and tasks.

For removing this stress, I have started to spend more time with my parents and focusing on
little yoga and workout after the classes have ended. Little meditation and yoga give me
energy and help me to build my concentration more on my online learning sessions.  I have
identified that I need to set some strategy and apply those accordingly in my daily life which
help me to adapt the e-learning lessons more effectively. Self-Motivation is the first key
development I need to keep on working by communicating with the classmates and teachers
for any difficulties in understanding who used to help me to improve my skills and
knowledge.

2.3 How E-learning environment provide students best practice for meeting increasing
demand under COVID pandemic
As stated by Blake et al., (2020, p. 2997) E-learning is considered an old technique when
some of the students want to join the course of distance learning. However, e-learning
becomes the only option of learning at the time of covid-19 pandemic, the isolation is
mandatory. According to governmental guidelines the people have to stay at their home and
maintain social distance to avoid the spread of covid- 19 pandemic. Only the essential
workers can go out of their home also by maintaining the rules and regulations. The
institutes have decided to introduce an online learning process to continue their teaching and
learning the students which everyone can avail by sitting at their home. It's become difficult
at the beginning specifically for the students, though with the passing of time e-learning
provides best practice to increase the demand of e-learning during covid-19 pandemic.
These can be discussed in the following.

Enhanced Researching Skills

As stated by Ebner et al., (2020, p. 94) The e-learning helps the students to study the lesson
in depth and research more to solve that out on their own. The students face many
difficulties like proper use of digital equipment in e-learning and late submission of their
assignments but whenever they identify where they are lacking they start working on that
immediately and keep on improving their skills. Teachers provided many assignments and
tasks which are related to the present economic situation or present data oriented topic,
which helps the students to research more about those topics and try to solve that out by
themselves.

Enhanced Self Ability

Self-esteem is considered as self-worth. Self-efficacy implies the belief of one's own

capabilities which helps to produce the levels of attainment. As opined by (Lytzerinou and
Iordanou, 2020, p. 618), when students keep on trying to overcome the barriers by learning
on their own and by executing their necessary attainments of performance they become self-
able to understand everything without depending on others.   It has been found that the
students became habituated with the physical classroom where they can talk, communicate
and dependent on their professors to some extent. Covid-19 makes themselves the
opportunity to improve their self-ability by learning new things and applying the core skills
and knowledge in appropriate places of work. During covid-19 pandemic professionals imply
some strategic application and provide the students some tasks which make the students
interested and attentive in their e-learning sessions. As stated by Rumjaun and Narod,
(2020, p. 86) Albert Bandura have defined this self-ability by stating the fact that students

6
need to believe themselves and be confident to reach their goals by accomplishing
steadiness in difficult situations.

3. Conclusion
At the end of this paper it can be concluded that the e-learning methodology is effective in
learning new things. During covid-19 pandemic every person has no scope but availing
everything online to avoid the spread of covid-19 and staying at their home. The students
found some difficulties at the beginning of the learning process as they found a gap in
understanding what their teachers wanted to make them understand and also gap in
communication due to the use of unknown phrases used by the teachers and lack of enough
attention by the students. It can be concluded that apart from those difficulties students get
the chance to develop their digital skills and time management skills by motivating
themselves. They try to engage more with their effective and constructive activities to make
themselves adaptive during e-learning sessions.
