Participants: Grade 11 and 12 students and English & Filipino teachers

ACTIVITY

- Conduct of the Brigada Pagbasa for senior high school students

Description

- Assessment of the reading level of volunteer readers of Tuyan National High School
(Senior High School) through the Brigada Pagbasa.
Objectives

1.) To assess the reading level of the senior high school students for both grade 11 and 12
as volunteer readers.
2.) To give feedback to the volunteer readers who have the least score in the reading
comprehension assessment.
3.) To determine number of learners who can read and understand a story (2-3 guide
questions answered correctly).
4.) To determine number of learners that can read and understand local material (2-3
guide questions answered correctly).

HIGHLIGHTS

- Filipino and English teachers at the senior high school faculty conducted the Brigada Pagbasa
to the grade 11 and 12 students.

- There were at least 19 volunteer readers who participated in this activity.

- Few volunteer readers gave their time because of time restriction.

- The volunteer readers as well as the teachers/tutors observed proper safety protocols while
doing the activity.

RESULTS

- Because the volunteer readers are already in senior high school, all of them can read a
paragraph of four simple sentences.

- Almost all the student volunteers can read and understand the given text/reading material
given and answers 2 to 3 questions out of 5 questions.

- Almost all of them can read the local material given

- In conclusion, there are still some volunteer readers who need to work on their
comprehension skills
