2. What are the opinions of affected professionals regarding the CPD Law?
Interview at least one professional. You are also encouraged to use
online resources to compare their opinions with.
The following questions are suggested, but you may use your own.
a. What do you think of the CPD law?
b. Has the CPD law helped you in your professional growth?
c. Have you attended trainings/seminars that have significantly
improved your skills?

The professional teacher I interviewed is Mrs. Melanie Ferrera Dungan. She is

currently teaching at the Gen. Ricardo G. Papa Sr. Memorial High School, Taguig
City, and I utilized Messenger to communicate with her. These are her following
answers:

A. “I see it as an important means of updating the professional skills and

knowledge of all the professionals in order to remain professionally competent
in achieving one’s true potential”.
B. “Yes, in the sense that it gives a huge opportunity to make myself updated
and learn new things in my profession”.
C. “Yes, I attended lot of seminars which helped me improved in my chosen
profession”.

A. According to Philippine Business School, Under the CPD Act of 2016,

continuing professional development, or CPD, is the acquisition of advanced
knowledge, skills, and ethical values in a post-licensure specialization or in a
cross- or multidisciplinary field of study for incorporation into professional
practice, independent study, and/or lifelong learning. It is crucial because it
guarantees your continued competence in your field, which protects the
public, the employer, the professional, and the professional's career. For
working professionals, it is a continuous process and a lifelong duty.
B. The CPD process helps professionals manage their own development on an
on-going basis. Its function is to help them record, review, and reflect on what
they have learned so far. It’s not a tick-box document recording the training
they have completed. It’s broader than that. It ensures their capabilities keep
pace with the current industry standards of others in the same field.
C. Both Cregencia and Romero believe that professionals do need to regularly
attend seminars and trainings to make sure that they’re continuously growing
and learning as professionals. Cregencia said. (We really need trainings
because that’s where we get updates about new practices, equipment.)
