At the end of lesson, the students should be able to:

a. define mestiza sleeve ;


b. give the steps in drafting the pattern for mestiza sleeve;
c. draft the pattern of mestiza sleeve;
d. follow systematically the steps in drafting mestiza sleeve pattern.

1. What are the different traditional Filipino costumes?


2. What is the official national costume for Filipino women?
3. What is the sophisticated version of national costume for Filipino
women?

C. Motivation
WHISPER CHALLENGE

The class will be divided into 2 groups. Each group must have 2 representatives.The
first representative will wear headphone and will guess the word that is being
pronounced and whispered by the second representative. The group with a higher
points will be declared the winner.

Mestiza Sleeve

Mestiza Sleeve
 This sleeve style came from the mestiza dress,
a traditional filipiniana costume. o Powerpoint

Pattern procedure of Mestiza Sleeve

1. Choose the desired proportion from the


measurement guide.

2. Trace the block pattern of sleeve. Then, mark presentation Demonstration

to right using L-square.
4. A-C = Height of Pleats.
5. D = Center of B-C. Square from right to left.
6. C-E = Length of the mestiza sleeve. Square

7. E-F and E-G = (Bottom Girth), Then add 1inch
for seam allowance. Square up.
8. From point C, shape the armhole by using
fashion ruler or by freehand drawing.
9. Divide sleeve cap of back and front armhole
into 5 equal parts of the desired number of
pleats.
10. Measure armhole of sleeve less armhole of
bodice. The difference will be divided by
desired depth of pleats for the sleeve.
Ex. 72cm – 40 cm = 32/8 = 4cm pleats
E. Application
With the teachers guidance, Some of students will re-demonstrate the
steps in pattern for mestiza sleeve.

F. Generalization
The teacher will call some students to summarize the newly discussed
lesson.

G. Evaluation
Without the teacher guidance, the students will draft the pattern of mestiza and
sleeve they will graded according to given rubrics.
