Radnja je počela u prošlosti i traje još uvek; može se i nastaviti (Present
Perfect Cont.)
Who's drunk my beer? Ko je popio moje pivo? –Radnja se završila u
NEPOSREDNOJ prošlosti (piva više nema). (Present Perfect)
What do you do? Šta radiš? Misli se na zanimanje, na neko činjenično stanje.
What are you doing? Misli se na trenutno stanje. Šta sada radiš?
What did you do when you cut your finger? Šta si uradio kada si isekao prst?
Želi da zna šta se desilo, šta je uradio NAKON što je isekao prst.
What were you doing when you cut your finger?
Šta si radio PA si isekao prst?
He fired the gun. Radnja u prošlosti koja je trajala kratko i brzo se završila.
He was firing the gun when I saw him. Radnja koja je trajala duži vremenski
period u prošlosti.
I’ve checked my emails and there’s no reply. Proverio sam mejlove i nema
odgovora. Radnja koja se završila u bliskoj prošlosti. REZULTAT u
sadašnjosti: još uvek nema odgovora
I’ve been checking my emails, that’s why I’m late. Proveravao sam mejlove,
zato kasnim. Naglasak je na trajanju radnje. Radnja koja se završila u VEOMA
bliskoj prošlosti, maltene do sad. POSLEDICA u sadašnjosti: zato kasnim
The train leaves in 5 minutes. Obično saopštenje. Voz ide za pet minuta po
rasporedu vožnje.
The train is leaving in 5 minutes!
Naglasak na tome da voz polazi za 5 minuta i da treba da požure da bi stigli na
vreme.

E.g. They’ve been married for 30 years. (они су у браку 30 година и још увек
су браку)
They were married for 30 years. (они су били у браку 30 година али више
нису; могуће да су се развели, да су преминули и сл.)
When I’ve talked to him, I’ll tell you. Reći ću ti nakon što budem razgovarala sa
njim.
When I talk to him, I’ll tell him. Kada budem pričala sa njim, reći ću mu.
I wish I knew the way. Voleo bih da znam put. Odnosi se na sadašnjost.

Problems with Perfect Tenses:
The sentences below contain common errors that students make with the
perfect tenses in English. Try to correct them and think about why the student
made the error (e.g. language 1 interference, confusion with another tense).
