Scope This procedure is applicable to all types of portable and fixed ladders viz., Wind ladders, Domestic and Commercial Ladders, Responsibilities Conducting the tests - Quality Supervisors/ Quality Head. Approval of Test Results - Quality Head ‘Terms and Definitions Ladder - Device incorporating steps or rungs on which a person may ascend or descend, (Note Step stools are explicily excluded from this definition. The lower sti is to be fixed to the support so that the stile ends overhang the supporting surface (see Figure 1). if the ‘ungs/steps are bolted, riveted, or simitarly fixed to the stile the edge ofthe support shall bein ine withthe bottom lower edge of the assembling hole. Ifthe rungsisteps are fixed to the stile without the stle being penetrated the edge of the support shal be inline with the lower edge of the rungistep, 85.2 Ifa stabilizer baris permanent fixed tothe ladder the bottom stile end test does not apply 85.3 A rigid load block 50 mm wide is placed with its end up to and parallel with the end ofthe stile, The load block shall rest on the stile and shall effect the whole width of the stile. The lateral deflection fof the stile ‘end is measured at the outer edge of the load block in the longitudinal axis, Prepared by: Roe . The permanent deflection after removal ofthe test oad together with any damages is noted. ‘The testis repeated on the lower stile without turing the ladder. Difference between inal reading and the final reading gives the permanent defection of the bottom stile ends ofthe ladder. This test shall also be conducted on supporting sections. ‘Acceptable Limits: ‘The acceptable maximum limit (fsx) for permanent deflection of the bottom end stile should nat exooed 2mm, NNetther fracture nor visible cracks are allowed. Reporting of Test Results: Update the test details in ladder testing log book. Report the test results in the Ladder Test Report Irespective of test results, test report shall have the actual loads applied, ime and deflection cbserved as per the test procedure mentioned above.
