TEST PROCEDURE FOR TORSION TEST FOR RUNGS AND STEPS
Doe No: §4.04-SOF08 Revision No:02 | fective date: 24un2046 [Paye203 |
80 Methodology
8.1 Before stating the tests, ensure that the measuring gauges to be used have valid calibration and don't
have any errors.
8.2 Uncertainty of Measurement shall be ensured as below:
+ 1 mm for longitudinal measurements;
+ 5:mmfor the measurement of the distance between the supports and the overhanging length;
+ 1° forthe measurement of angles;
+1 % for static forces and torque.
8.3 The tests conducted as per DIN EN 131-2 standard shall be performed on one ladder and inthe order as
listed below:
Test 1 ~ Strength test of stiles
Test 2—Bending test of stiles
Test 3 ~ Lateral deflection test ofthe ladder
‘Test 4 —Bottom stile end test
Test 5 — Vertical lad on rungs, steps and platforms
Test 6 - Torsion fest for rungs and steps
Ensure that before conducting the torsion test for rungs, strength test of stile, bending test of stiles, lateral
deflection test, bottom stile ends test and vertical load on rungs! steps and platforms must have been
‘conducted on the test sample in that order:
85 Torsion Test for Rungs and steps
85.1 The ladder shall be placed in standing/ vertical poston or positioned a8 in use as given in ig 4 below with
the help of test fiture.
85.2 Test shallbe conducted on weakest rung ofthe ladder of any design.
883 Place the Loading Ber with clamp atthe centr ofthe rung or step.
854 A torque M of 50 Nm (see Figure 17) shal be applied on the midpoint of he rung or step via @ 100 mm wide
clamping device, The torque shall be applied alternately 10 times in clockwise and 10 times in counter
clockwise direction for a period of 10s each,
855 During testing there shall be no relative movement inthe connection between stle and rungstep

856 The angle of deflection is the difference between the above two measured values
857 Check for any relative movement between ste and rung,
86 Acceptable Limits:
86.1 The acceptable maximum iit (fn) - Ate the test @ permanent deformation shall be 1° at maximum with a
tolerance of 0,2°,
862
883. Norelative movement between stl and rung
87 Reporting of Test Results:
8.7.1 Update the test details in ladder testing log book
87.2 Report the test results inthe Ladder Test Report
87.3. Iespective of test results, test report shall have the actual loads applied, time and deflection observed as
per the test procedure mentioned above.
