Scope Verification of machine condition before stating Aging, setting the machine parameters where apolicable, carrying out Aging, verification of profes after aging for mechanical properties and maintaining the machine 'n good condition after use. This is applicable to all Aluminium profiles manufactured by SAGAR ASIA Responsibilities QC Supervisor / Chemist QA- In-charges; VP-QA Terms and Definitions None Methodology ‘¢ Heating Media-Aluminum alloys are typically heat-treated in air chamber furnaces Ensure that this doesnt damage the material by over-heating ‘+ Airchamber furace installed by Sagar Asia is of gas fredtype. ‘+ The suitability ofthe atmosphere in an ai-chamber furace must be periodically checked to {ensure that products processed in the furnace are free from heat-reat induced porosity ‘* Furnace Temperature Uniformity and Calibration Requirements: ‘¢ After establishment of thermal equilbrium or a recurrent temperature pattern, the temperature in the working (soaking) zone, for all furnace control and test sensors, shall maintain temperature in the working (soaking) zone within the following allowable ranges: + 50°F range for fumaces used only for full annealing at 825°F and higher, except 20°F range ifthe annealing temperature is within 15°F of the middle of the solution heat treating temperature range specified in Table 1 + 30°F range for furnaces used only for solution heat treatment of those Bx alloys for wich Table 1 specifies a range from 30°F or more, ‘+ 20°F range for furmaces used for other solution heat treatment specified in Table 1 ‘and any aging heat treatment. + Air Temperature-Measuring System Accuracy Test — the accuracy of temperature-measuring system shall be checked weekly under operating conditions. ‘¢ Fumaces Temperature Uniformity Surveys-A temperature uniformity survey shall be performed for each furnace to ensure compliance with the temperature uniformity requirements specified in clause 6.23. + Extended Survey Time Interval for Precipitation (Aging) Furnaces-Survey frequency, for fumaces used only for precipitation treatment, may be reduced to six months after the Successful completion of six consecutive monthly surveys (including the inal survey as Cutlined in 4.3.2), provided that ether ofthe following conditions are met: Prepared by: Abpe. ‘Approved by: e Date: 0-00-2016 Date: 0 Dee2016 i WORK INSTRUCTIONS ISO CLAUSE: 8.5 [WORK INSTRUCTIONS FOR AGING OF ALUMINIUM ALLOYS Doc No‘SAE-GAWO9 Revision No:00 | effective date: 01-Deo-2016 Page 2 0f5 * The furace utilzes a multipoint recorder for continuous recording of furnace temperature data; o, + One or more load monitoring sensors) are employed to measure and record actual metal temperature(s) ¢ Preparation for Heat Treatment + Racking and Spacing Product shall be supported or hung and spaced to permit free flow and Circulation of the quenchant over all surfaces to ensure that the entre product receives an ‘adequate quench and will meet the requirements of the material specification * Cleantiness-Prior to heat treating, product shall be free from surface contaminants which might nave a detrimental effet * Precipitation Heat Treating (Atficial Aging) ‘* Recommended times and temperatures for precipitation heat-treating various heat-treatable Wrought aluminum alloys eppear in Table 1 ‘+ At completion of precipitation time-attemperature, the product shall be removed fom the furnace and cooled to room temperature, ‘¢ Annealing—Recommended times and temperatures for annealing of wrought alloys appear in Table 2 + Testing Requirements: ‘+ Tensile Propertes-Representative test samples from each lot of production material shall exhibit tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation properties not less than those speciied in applicable procurement specifications or detal drawings. ‘+ Record the results of tensile properties, ‘* Update the relevant report, | TABLE 1: Recommended Heat Treatment for Wrought Aluminium Alloys By Preciptalon Heat Tealment = Product Extruded Wire, Rod, Bar, Profiles and Tube METAL TEMPERATURE i Sno.
