Purpose
Establish and maintain a procedure for tower ladder ~ Static rung pull test (Non reinforced rung) as per the
applicable standards,
Scope
This procedure is applicable to Tower ladders viz, Wind ladders, Domestic and Commercial Ladders.
Responsibilities
Conducting the tests - Quality Supervisors / Quality Head,
Approval of Test Resus - Quality Head
Terms and Definitions
Ladder -Device incorporating steps or rungs on which a person may ascend or descend (OIN EN 131-1)
Reference Standards
EN ISO 1412-4: Safety of Machinery, permanent means of access machinery Part 4 ~ Fixed Ladder

Uncertainty of Measurement shall be ensured as below:
+ 1 mm or longitudinal measurements;
+ Smmfor the measurement ofthe distance between the supports and the overhanging length;
+1" forthe measurement of angles:
+£ 1% for static forces and torque.
The tests shall be performed on one ladder
Ladder Rung - Static pull test (1.5Kn) Non reinforced rung
Take photos of setup prior to loading
Ladder tobe resting on floor, and connected to a back ri stiff enough no o deflect during load application
‘Level all ladder brackets and check that both maintain equal height and distance between,
Connectors ar tobe cantered ~verically between the ladder rungs. Using the previous mentioned
‘reinforcing hardware inside ladder rungs, assembly both connectors via threaded shat othe outside of the
ladder. Ladder bracket heights on bot sides tobe the seme height off he groundibase
‘Atach ladder clamps using GE required hardware. Proper torque required is 49Nm/36¥., bs & back
hardware torque 210Nm
Feeler gauge required to measure and record the gap between the bolt and the ladder on both sides ofthe
bracket
Highlight and scribe both upper & lower starting positon of clamps prior to fad being apple,
Using all metal components crate a ink between fixed load cell to bracket. A ratchet type cum-elong works
best to apply force. (ensure centre distance between ladder and load cel is 100mm)
‘Apply pressure untl load cell reads at minimum 1.5xN/G30 ibs.
‘Measure and record any movement down the ladder rung, Check for any permanent deformation that may
have occured,
Pass criteria is considered when no deformation or metal fatigue is found. Rung cannot found to have
clsengaged or pull out ofthe ral
Take photos of setup afterload is applied. Also record any areas of movement
