By Regelline Barredo & Rhaquel Cueva

With the theme “Upgrading Pre-Service Teachers' TPACK amidst Challenges in Education,” Pampanga
State Agricultural University (PSAU) joins the first-ever Regional Convention of Teacher Education
Students (RegCon) 2022 hosted by the Eduk Council of Holy Angel University (HAU), which took place
from the 16th until the 18th of February, 2022. Led by the chosen representatives from the College of
Education, PSAU bagged the overall champion title alongside Don Honorio Ventura State University
(DHVSU).

The said RegCon was held virtually, with plenary discussions and pre-event competitions aimed at
improving the participants' technological, pedagogical, and content-wise skills (TPACK), wherein
different State Universities and Colleges across Central Luzon took part in it.

Among the pre-event competitions were: Teaching Demonstration Competition, Technology- Based
Instructional Material Making Competition, and Battle of the Brains Quiz Competition, which were all
held via these platforms: HAU Official Facebook, Zoom Meeting, and Google Form.

John Kevin Meran was hailed as the champion for the secondary level category, while Dianne Soriano
Yusi won second place for the elementary level category in the Teaching Demonstration Competition.

In an interview, team leaders Job Dizon and Ma. Franchescka Yumang shared their sentiments regarding
the pre-competition preparations. Yumang was also the one who got the first runner-up spot for the Battle
of the Brains Quiz Competition.

"We were responsible for the collection of the professional education modules which
participants could use as their reviewers and to add to their existing knowledge." —Mr. Dizon

"Probably the most challenging concern we had to overcome was the schedule of the event. We
had short preparation time, and the convention dates were simultaneous to our finals week. “—
Ms. Yumang.

Despite the mishaps that she encountered, Yumang also noted that she had a blast at the convention and
that it was a remarkable feat in which she was delighted to have participated.
On February 18, 2022, HAU expressed its gratitude to the participating schools and students for taking an
active part in the first-ever RegCon in Region III. The singing of the HAU hymn marked the official end
of the convention, as the students eagerly anticipated next year's RegCon.
