Task 1/2: Reflect on how your work fits your audience (U10:LO3_AC3.1)
Please answer ALL boxes in order to pass this section. You can include screen grabs and links to help. This section is about
evaluating how your work fits the audience you have chosen to target. Answer all three questions fully with supporting
images, links and evidence of audience/survey feedback.

Choose THREE existing professional versions aimed at the same audience/genre as your work. How does yours compare to them? BE
SPECIFIC.

Example 1 of 3
URL/link, image and description
This is a music video that is on YouTube which I believe was created for the same target audience as mine
as it is very ambient and is relaxing.
Link

Something your loop does as well

Have a few objects in the background moving slightly but moving in a slow, relaxing way, and having the objects moving in
in a way which you would not notice straight away.

Something the example does better

The music used within this example is better than the music that I chose for mine and suits this animation. I think the
animation to this music video is better than mine as everything moves smoothly.
How you would improve yours based on this
I would spend longer looking at different music asking people from my target audience which one they prefer, or which one
suits my animation more as I think if I spent longer, I could have found music that suits my animation more.

Example 2 of 3
URL/link, image and description
Link This loop of adventure time is very ambient as the rain is very calming believe it has similar target audiences to mine.
This meets the theme of ambient very well.

Something your loop does as well

A few objects move in the background but also, we both have used very ambient and calming music. This helps meet the
theme of ambient. Something that mine has which is similar is that a stop motion that I made was the moving umbrella and a
stop motion they have made is a moving flag.
Something the example does better
the rain as it helps make the animation feel so much more relaxing.

How you would improve yours based on this

Because mine was also adventure time I would make the flag move like they did with theirs. I really like the rain as well and
this is something I could have potentially added to mine.

Example 3 of 3
URL/link, image and description
Link This a loop that I Found on you tube which I think shows that some loops work very well even with only a few things
animated. I do think the music is not that relaxing which that is what they have titled it and I feel like they could have used
more calming music then it really would be ambient.

Something your loop does as well

Both of our loops have stop motions and theirs is the moving flag and scarf.

Something the example does better

the background picture they have looks nice and I think because the colours are quite dull it makes it easier to relax as if it
were full of bright colours, it could be quite in your face and distracting.
How you would improve yours based on this
I really like how the flag moves because I think how they have done the stop motion it looks smooth and if I managed my time
better than I would have made the flag in my animation move with the wind and I would want it to move like how this flag
moves.

Results and reflection of your survey

Show evidence of your audience feedback and reflect on what it tells you.
Show evidence of your survey results here (screen grabs/graphs/urls/Youtube comments/other)
What patterns or trends did you notice from your audience feedback?
A lot of people said similar things on my survey, and I am not sure if this is because the things, they have said is the parts of the
animation which is obvious or maybe because they are the parts that are good. For example, everyone who answered question
1 rated my ambient loop 5/5 which has made me quite happy as I have put a lot of effort into it so I'm happy people enjoyed
watching it. And on question 4 everyone noticed what tweens and stop motions I created and only one person noticed the
stop motion of the pond which I am glad about as I wanted some to be hard to spot.
What did you learn from thinking about this?
From this I have learnt that getting feedback is helpful as you can understand what your target audience likes and what they
would do. With everyone rating my ambient loop and the music I chose remarkably high it has made me feel quite happy as I
spent a long time on this animation, and I really enjoyed the process and seeing that other people enjoyed it as well makes me
feel like I have done a decent job.
How might you make improvements to your work based on what you’ve learnt from your audience? Be specific
For improvements, a lot of people said similar things weather that was I did not need to improve anything or that I could have
added more animations to the building. I completely agree with the feedback that I got as if I had more time and managed my
time better than I would have liked to add at least one stop motion or tween because there was a flag or bucket that I could
have made move in some way. Someone said that it would have looked better if when it turned night if I made the sun move
up into a moon and I think that would look so much better as I just left the sun as I did not have enough time to change
anything.

Conclusions on your audience feedback

Based on what you’ve learnt above, write about whether your feel your work is fit for your specific audience overall.
Remember to say why and prove it
In conclusion the results that I have got from my survey have made me think about what I can do next time if I ever use
animation in a project like this again. From this project I have realised that I need to manage my time better as there is so
much, I wanted to do but if I gave myself enough time, I would have been able to do it. So next time I do a project I am going
to plan out what I want to achieve each week to help me get the work done on time this will make me feel so much better as I
can easily get stressed from workload and it can make me fall behind which is something I do not want to happen as I really
enjoy animation. Additionally, from doing this project I am thinking of doing something animation related for my final major
project as I feel like I have improved my skills a lot since last year and I have found myself really enjoying using animate for this
project. I think the people who did my survey was part of my target audience as I sent it to my peers, so I think the results I got
what truly what they thought and that is what is going to help me as they have also done the same project as me. The
feedback I have received overall I have found extremely helpful as I agree with the comments that was said and it has been
eye-opening to see what other people think.

Task 2/2: Reflect on your own skills, processes and personal development (U10:LO3_AC3.2)
Please answer ALL sections fully to pass this section. You can include screen grabs and links to help. This section is about
how you feel your creative abilities and processes have improved during this assignment. Answer all sections fully with
supporting images (including your own screen grabs: CMD+SHIFT+4), links and any other evidence you feel is relevant

Talk about three issues you had during production. These could be based on practical parts of the work, supporting tasks
such as research or even audience surveys.
One issue I have faced during this production is that the clouds go through the tree house at some points as the
1. clouds move across the sky. If I had more time, I would fix this problem but due to the fact I have not got any
more time I cannot.
I had problems near the end of me doing this project which was trying to make a bucket that I drew move by
2. using the asset warp pins however my animate was not allowing me to do this the way I wanted and made it
quite difficult and kept changing the quality and just did not make it look good.
I struggled for a while when it came to creating the stop motion of the umbrella as whilst I was trying to create it
3. it was not moving how I wanted it to, and it looked quite glitchy and when I first traced it looked obvious that it
had been drawn.

How/to what degree were you able to resolve each issue?

I resolved part of the issue on aftereffects where I masked the layer and made it so the main issue has been
1.
resolved but the clouds still clip through at some points.
With the asset warp because when I was having problems with it so close to when it was due in, I decided I did
not want to do it in the end as it was making the quality of my animation bad, so I decided to animate the
2.
umbrella instead and this looks much better. If I had more time and next time managed my time better, then I
would have attempted it again.
I redrew it using the eyedropper tool and used more accurate colours. Jacob also helped me with the timing as
3.
that it why it looked so glitchy and so he told me where I had to put each frame.

Write about at least three things which well during the whole process?
Talk about what you felt went particularly well about them.
I did the clouds quite well as I had to go through the process of going on photoshop and using the clone stamp
tool to delete the original clouds as I wanted to make them move. When re drawing them, I traced over the
1.
original background which I chose then made two layers for the clouds so I could make them move at slightly
different speeds. I turned the clouds into tweens. They turned out how I wanted them to.
I think the music fits very well with my ambient loop, I got the music off a website called epidemic sounds which
lets you download royalty free music for free. I spent quite a long-time trying to find a piece of music that I think
2.
really fits my animation. I think that the piece of music that I have chosen really gives an ambient effect and it is
very calming.
Throughout the process of this project another thing that I think went quite well is the effects that I added on
3. after effects. I Made the animation look like it transitions from day to night and I also added stars. This is a key
part to my animation as it looks much better with the effects on than it does without.

And finally, write a small amount about what you enjoyed about the project which you could possibly use in future work
or assignments. This could be from research, design or your practical production process. Feel free to use screen grabs.
Whilst creating this ambient loop I have enjoyed working independently and learning more about animate. I can visibly
see that my skills have improved so much since last year and because of that I am very much enjoying using animate and
I have liked doing this project. I am thinking about what I might do for my final major project, and I am thinking about
using animate and doing something like what I have done this project as I have enjoyed it a lot. I find drawing using the
Wacom tablets fun and I am getting better using them the more do it. My favourite part about this project is that we got
to work independently, and I really liked creating the tweens of the clouds and smoke as whilst drawing them I really
enjoyed it.
