Subject: Construction Methodology – Demolition of Wall

1. Provide board-up to secure a safe working area.

2. Inspect the area if there is an existence of any electrical wiring at the wall to be dismantled that

need to cut to prevent any electrocution during demolition

3. Install a temporary support for the existing mezzanine floor using H-frame, pipes and wide flange to

carry over the weight of 360 kg per sq.m. Provide a steel base plate for the leg support to protect

the existing ground slab from crack due to punching shear of vertical support.

4. Check the area if there is a column supporting the existing mezzanine floor then inform it to the

structural engineer.

5. Before demolition, check the structures of the wall if it is a reinforced concrete wall, load bearing

wall or if there is any column found within the wall by chipping off to exposed partially using hand

tools then inform the structural engineer to verify the actual site condition if it supporting the

mezzanine floor.

6. During demolition, use only small chipping hammer and hand tools to dismantle the wall partially.

Also, frequently observed the area if there is any movement of existing structures affected by

demolition.

7. Often clean the area by removing all debris from dismantled walls.
