I. Title: Festival Dances

II. Learning Competency:


Performs appropriate first aid for injuries and emergency situations in
physical and dance settings (cramps, sprain, and heat exhaustions). (Qtr
3- PE9F – IIIb – h – 30).

III. Instructions: This activity sheet will focus on appropriate first aid
treatment for injuries and emergency situations in physical and dance
setting. Below are the activities with regard to this topic. Read the
directions of every activity and perform and answer what is being asked.

IV. Activities

Activity 1: Emergency! Please help me!

Directions: Create a 2-3-minute dramatic presentation (pantomime) showing a good


first aider helping a certain emergency situation at home. Invite your family to
be part of the presentation. It is your discretion as to what injury you would
portray. Select one injury happens during physical and dance activity below.
Record the video of your performance and save it in your cellphone or flash
drive. Submit your output together with your activity notebook. You will be
graded based on the criteria below.
Types of Injury:

 Sprain – a stretch or tear of a ligament, the band of connective tissues that


joins the end of one bone with another. Areas of the body most vulnerableto
sprains are ankles, knees and wrists.
 Cramp – overuse of a muscle, dehydration, muscle strain or simply holding a
position for a prolonged period of time.
 Heat exhaustion – is caused by loss of salt and water due to excessively
high temperature.

1. Having knowledge on basic first aid means that you will be confident in your
skills and abilities to help other in a certain situation.
2. The ultimate goal of first aid is to prolong life, prevent further injury and
maintain the condition of the patient while waiting for proper medication.
3. Knowledge and skills of first aid promotes the sense of safety and well-
being among people. It also ensure that injuries can be efficiently and
promptly dealt with before a trained medical professional arrives.
