Po wyrażeniu „would prefer” (wolałbym) dajemy to-bezokolicznik,

osobę +to- bezokolicznik lub rzeczownik.

Po wyrażeniu „prefer” (woleć) dajemy

1) czasownik z -ing: I prefer listening to the radio.
2) bezokolicznik (to read): I prefer to wake up early.
3) rzeczownik: I prefer juice.
Gdy chcemy powiedzieć, że wolimy jedna opcję od drugiej, wtedy
wymienimy je łącząc je spójnikiem to lub rather than w przypadku
bezokolicznika:

I prefer to sing rather than (to) draw.

Konstrukcji "had better" używamy, kiedy dajemy komuś rady

(lepiej by było żebyś/będzie lepiej jeśli ), po nim stawiamy
bezokolicznik bez "to".

Po formie „would rather” /„’d rather” (wołałbym) stawiamy

czasownik w formie podstawowej.
He’d rather walk than go by bus to work.
