TASK 1: THINK ME!
- Teacher will ask learners what activities do they usually do in their
everyday living? Form an inventory on their mind with action words ending in -ing.
2. Procedures
a. Activity
TASK 2: ACT IT OUT!
- Learners will be picking a slip of paper containing an -ing word. They
will act it out in front of their classmates and guess the action word.

GERUND is defined as a word ending in -ing formed from a verb and that function as
a noun.
Functions of Gerund:
Subject - it is a word or a phrase or a clause of a sentence about which
something is stated or asked in the predicate.
Examples:
1. Exercising is good for our health.
2. Playing badminton is my hobby.
Subject Complement - it describes or identifies the subject.
- it is after the linking verb.
Examples:
1. Lyra's favorite exercise is jogging.
2. His favorite activity is reading.

TASK 3: LINE ME UP
DIRECTION: Underline the gerund in each sentence. Copy and answer in a 1/4 sheet
of paper.
1. Running is a good way to explore.
2. Staying at home is her form of relaxation.
3. She suggested going to the museum.
4. The miser hated spending money.
5. Jogging is my newest hobby.

TASK 4: LET US IDENTIFY
DIRECTION: Underline the Gerund and identify its function in each of the
sentences. Write (S) if it is a Subject, and write (SC) if it is a Subject Complement.
