Monday- oh boy, it’s finally here, my last full week of college.

In all honesty it’s quite

terrifying to know that something that I’ve been doing for 17 years is about to come to

an end. There are some things about getting a job and working that I find a bit exciting

but it’s going to be a larger change than I have ever experienced before. Most of the

work I did today was a variety of housekeeping work. None of it was too difficult.

Tuesday- the office is in better shape and the repairs have been quick. I find it funny

that when a government organization needs something done quickly it’s often done with

the level of efficiency that you don’t really see for other things. The national weather

service has reported that our area might see some pretty severe weather within the next

couple of days and my supervisor wanted me to write up a quick report about anything

that could possibly happen. They are being very wary of new tornadoes.

Wednesday- today was another day where they wanted me to work on some social

media content for their department. My goal was to make some easily digestible

material that they could use to inform the general public about various topics. I had

done this before and actually found it quite enjoyable to do again.

Thursday-second to last day, today was relatively smooth. I got some things filed away

and prepared for my final day.

Friday- this is it, when I started this internship in January today felt 1,000,000 miles

away and now that it’s here it feels like no time has passed at all. I have greatly enjoyed

my time working here and will never forget the people and experiences that I have

gathered. As I look to the future I do see emergency management as a possible career

option and have applied to positions at both GEMA and FEMA. i’m hoping to hear

something back from them soon. Truth be told there was not a lot of work for me to do
today as it is a relatively quiet time. I did a couple of things around the office and when 3

o’clock rolled around I said my goodbyes to everyone, thanked my supervisor for

guiding me through the process and walked out the door. That’s it, that is a wrap on the

educational career for the foreseeable future. Everything else I have to do is small like

finishing up my electronic portfolio. Other than that it’s over and I need to find my

footing.
