2. Review

“Spot the Difference”

In the picture provided which
group do you think does not
belong???

The third picture, because it

does not follow a pattern.

B. Motivation
Strategy: Show and Tell

I have here series of images to show to you…

What does you observe on this images??

They are arrange according to their shape
What else?
They are arrange according to color, next to one another

C. Discussion

Activity:
I want you to observe the
arrangement of this picture

What do you see?

The illustration is in a repea-
ting Order.

The arrangement of the

Images is what we call pattern.

Pattern is created when figures

Objects, shapes, and etc. are
arrange in a particular order,
also in this figure it is in
repeated order/ pattern
the images/terms use are re-
peated over and over.

But what if there is a missing

Term in the pattern?
Example 1:

_____?

What do you think is the term/

Image missing? Following the
Pattern?
Butterfly

Example 2:

_______?

What is the missing term in this

Pattern? Providing that it
consist of one shape what will
be your basis?

The color, therefore it is

Yellow

The following term uses only 1

attribute/ characteristic in deter-
mining terms

Activity:
Strategy: (My Guess)
Students will study the following
pattern and answer it afterwards
by guessing the missing term

1. ____?

2. ____?

3. ___?

Answer:
1.

2.

3.

C. Discussion
Observe this illustration, this is a
repeated pattern using 1
attribute.

How about adding color to the

terms:

this becomes a repeating pattern

with 2 attributes, because the
basis of the term has become 2,
the shape and color.

How about this one?

This is a continuous pattern,

there is a continuation of the
sequence of the pattern.

Another example of a continuous

pattern:

What if the pattern is like this:

What have you observe?

There is a continuation in
the presentation of terms, also
it uses colors in identifying the
next terms.

D. Generalization

Note:
The Pattern is something
that is repeated in the usual way.
This may be a letter, shape,
color, size, or number being
repeated. Also it uses one attri-
bute when it only represents one
characteristic in a term.

D. Generalization

Continuous pattern, from the

word continue, meaning there is a
process illustrated. In short
continuous pattern is presenting a
gradual sequence of terms. It uses
two attributes when there are two
characteristics being shown.

E. Evaluation I
