TOPIC 6.0 Linear Inequalities in Two Variables
CONTENT STANDARD 6.1 Linear Inequalities in Two Variables
LEARNING STANDARD 6.1.1 Represent situations in the form of linear inequalities.
6.1.2 Make and verify the conjecture about the points in the region and the solution of
certain linear inequalities
LEARNING OBJECTIVE/ By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to
SUCCESS CRITERIA  represent situations in the form of linear inequalities.
 make and verify the conjecture about the points in the region and the solution of certain
linear inequalities.
LEARNING AND  Teacher explains the meaning of linear inequalities in two variables.
FACILITATION (PdPC)  Teacher gives some situations and shows how to represent the situation to a form of
linear inequalities.
 Pupils are asked to form linear inequalities from situations given by teacher.
 Teacher explains that an inequality can also be represented on the Cartesian plane by
sketching a region that satisfies the inequality, hence all the x-coordinates on that shaded
region will satisfy that inequality.
 Teacher explains that
(i) all points on a straight line satisfy the equation y = mx + c.
(ii) all points in the upper region satisfy the inequality y > mx + c.
(iii) all points in the lower region satisfy the inequality y < mx + c.
 Pupils do exercises in a textbook.

REFLECTION ___ / ___ pupils are able to master the learning objectives and reinforcement practices.
___ / ___ pupils are not able to master the learning objectives and reinforcement exercise and
given enrichment practices.
