RATIONALE

As enshrined and mandated under the 1987 Philippine Constitution,

Section 13: The state recognizes the vital role of the youth in nation-building and
shall promote and protect their physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual, and social
well-being. It shall cultivate nationalism and patriotism in young people and
promote their involvement in public and civic issues. As part of the continuing
effort of the SDO Sagay City – Youth Formation Division to develop the city’s
learners for societal growth, provide youth-serving units and organizations with
responsive, learner-centered programs and projects and enable learners to become
highly-skilled individuals, SDO Sagay – YFD will conduct the World Youth Skills
Day with theme “Empowering Learners for a Sustainable Future: Building
Skills for Tomorrow”.

In 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared 15 July as World

Youth Skills Day, to celebrate the strategic importance of equipping young people
with skills for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship. Technological
advancements and shifting labour market dynamics increasingly call for agile and
adaptable skill sets. It is crucial that we empower young people to navigate these
changes effectively. Equip our learners with skills for employment,
entrepreneurship, and sustainable development. The theme reflects the need to
address the key challenges and opportunities of a rapidly changing world. On
World Youth Skills Day, let us unite in recognizing the potential of young people as
catalysts for change and commit to providing them with the skills and
opportunities they need to build a prosperous and sustainable world for all.
Together, we can shape a brighter future where no young person is left behind.
