The Vietnamese film competing at 2023 Cannes Film Festival, Bên
Trong Vỏ Kén Vàng by director Phạm Thiên Ân, has received the
Caméra d’Or Award. The film follows a man named Thiện, who is
tasked with delivering his sister-in-law’s body to their countryside
hometown following a tragic motorcycle accident in Sài Gòn.
Accompanied by his nephew Đạo, aged five, rescued from the accident,
he finds his brother, who has been missing for several years.

Maybe Việt Nam is still less developed than many other countries with
regards to film production, both in terms of talents, technical skills or
investment. But i think now, there are so many talented Vietnamese
directors. They know how to introduce Vietnamese films to the world.
They want to make films that tell the truth, that capture the energy of
VietNam and the people who work for the country.
