Last number 5, who wants to answer?

“Yes, Ms. De Jesus”

Okay, lets see, yes it is personification, very “Personification”

good Ms, De Jesus.

I think you have an idea now to what is our

lesson all about. Today we will discuss the
figure of speech.

Although figurative language or figures of speech is

used in our everyday speech and in every kind of
literature, it provides the very foundation of poetry.
When we say figure of speech, it is a word or
phrase that intentionally deviates from literal
statement or common usage. In order to produce
rhetorical effect or even to convey meaning or
heighten effect by comparing or identifying one
thing with another. It is used in oral and written
language, often for humorous, mnemonic or eye
catching purposes.

It is said that poetic images have been classified

into a following figures of speech. Including simile,
metaphor, personification and hyperbole.

Lets proceed discussing simile.

Anyone, who wants to read what is on the

presentation?

“Ms. Set”

Thank Ms. Set, simile used as comparison when “Simile, is a comparison of two persons or
comparing two unlike things or persons. Also used
things which are unlike in most respects. It
the “like” or “as” as the signal when comparing.
uses like or as to signal the comparison.”
For example:

Her cheeks are red like a rose.

Next, is metaphor, kindly read, Mr. Gomez.

Thank you.
“Metaphor, is an implied comparison between
Unlike simile, metaphor does not use the signals two persons or things which are unlike in most

persons.

Example:

Her voice is music to his ears.

As you can see, the term voice directly compare to

music.

Means, that metaphor a a direct comparison of two

unlike things or persons.

Then we have personification, please read Ms.

Cailing.

Thank you.
“Personification, is the transfer of human
In personification it is about giving the
characteristics to inanimate objects or abstract
characteristics of a person to a things or such.
qualities.”
Example:

The flowers danced in the gentle breeze.

As you can see dancing is what man can do and it is

given to a flower and flower cannot dance since it
is not a man.

Last, is hyperbole, please read Ms. Dimaano.

Thank you.
“Hyperbole, is an extravagant exaggeration of
It is about exaggerating things. fact, use either for serious or comic effect.”
Example:

My parents will explode if they gets my grades.

Before I proceed to another task, I would like to ask

if theres any questions, clarifications, violent
reactions. Anyone.

If theres none lets proceed to our next task. “None po Ma’am”

I have prepared here a task entitled an essential
object, and the thing you will do is to get a piece of
paper then think of a thing or an object that
describe you as a person. And use the
statement "I am like a/an ____." on the first
sentence and explain your answer in to two
sentences.

“Did you get it class?”

Now you can start doing it you have 3 minutes

to do that. “Yes, Ma’am”

languages we have the opportunities to make
our sentences more creative, fun, and deep to

our plain sentences to fluttering and exciting
