Abstract

The purpose of this study is to make a booster that can give long-lasting scent to the
wearer’s clothing. It will be the solution to the problem of your garments having an odd
smell and odor after washing it by using a natural fragrance like ylang-ylang to avoid any
chemical reaction to your skin and make it safe to use to all consumers. For the procedure,
the needed materials were prepared, the ylang-ylang was air-dried, the ylang-ylang was
crushed into a fine powder, they were mixed, and stored tightly in glass jars. General Mean
Average is very much acceptable in terms of scent. F value is higher than F crit, therefore
alternative hypotheses is accepted, and null hypotheses is rejected. General mean average

Laundry often has that unpleasant
smell after washing. Normal washing machine
detergents perform a good job of cleaning your
clothes, but they don’t often leave a fragrant
scent that lasts a day or two. (In the Wash,

A relatively new product called
laundry beads or fragrance boosters has been
introduced to the market with the promise of
improving the smell off your clothing. There
are numerous smells from which to choose.
The aroma is enhanced when combined with
other detergents. They work wonders at
keeping garments smelling and feeling fresh.
The scent of most laundry detergents is much
weaker than that of laundry boosters. Simply
add laundry boosters to the laundry, and they
wash cycle. The result is clothing that smells
incredibly fresh. (In the Wash, 2022)

Possible results of the study are it can
be able to leave a scent that can last in a long
period of time and consumers can be able to
use it without facing any problems involving
health and other things.
Statement of the Problem
Generally, the study aimed to
determine the acceptability of Cananga
odorata (ylang-ylang) as a laundry scent
booster.
Specifically, this would have answered
the following questions.
1. What is the acceptability of
Cananga odorata (ylang-ylang) as
laundry scent boosters in terms
of: 1.a. scent 1. b. color
1.c. texture 1.d. solubility
2. Is there any significant difference
among the treatments employed?
Hypotheses
HO1: Cananga odorata (ylang-ylang)
laundry scent booster is not acceptable in
terms of scent, color, texture, and solubility.
HO2: The treatments are all the same.
Significance of the Study
The benefit of the study is that it helps
our laundry smell pleasant and nice which
would last a long time. The following would
benefit the study:
Consumers- this study would benefit
consumers the most because this would help
them with their laundry and them not
worrying about the chemicals that may give
skin allergies and other health infections to
their families because it is made from natural
ingredients.
Environment- it would benefit the
environment because it is environment-
friendly, and it doesn’t contain any chemicals
that may destroy the environment.
Researchers- this study would provide them
with new ideas.
Scope and Limitations of the Study
This study was limited to those with
access to the materials and components used

in this study. This research only focused on
the acceptability of Cananga odorata (ylang-
ylang) as a laundry scent booster.
Time and Place of the Study
The study was conducted at Purok 1,
Barangay San Pedro (Tuato), President
Quirino, Sultan Kudarat, between the month
of November and February.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
Materials
The materials used were 3kg powdered
ylang-ylang, 2kg Epsom salt, 1kg baking soda,
1L essential oil, a bowl, spoon, mortar and
pestle, dropper, and jars.
Design and Treatments
The experimental research design that
was applied utilized Completely Randomized
Design consisting of three treatments
replicated three times.
T1- 1kg powdered ylang-ylang, 500g
Epsom salt, 150g baking soda, 60ml
essential oil.
T2- 800g powdered ylang-ylang, 500g
Epsom salt, 150g baking soda, 60ml
essential oil.
T3- 750g powdered ylang-ylang, 500g
Epsom salt, 150g baking soda, 60ml
essential oil.
Preparation of Materials
Prepare the needed materials like
Epsom salt, baking soda, essential oil, and a
bowl.
Drying of Ylang- ylang
The ylang-ylang had to be air-dried for
many days until it could be ground to powder.
Crushing of Ylang-ylang
Crush the ylang-ylang into a fine
powder using a mortar and pestle.
Mixing of Ingredients
After measuring the ingredients, mix
them all together in a bowl.

After mixing, store them tightly in Table 1.1 shows the AnoVa table for
