Assignment 11 - Evaluation

Criteria Before assessment:

1. - For Kinder teachers: I asked a colleague to refer a Grade 1 student who


seems to be at-risk for developing reading difficulties.
- For Grade 1 teachers: I selected one of my Grade 1 students who seem to be at-risk for 
developing reading difficulties.

2. I prepared and printed all the assessment materials prior to the assessment session.

During assessment:

3. I established rapport and explained the task to the student before starting the actual
assessment. 

4. I provided feedback during practice items, and refrained from providing feedback during

actual test items.

5. I recorded the time it took for the student to complete each test. 

6. I noted down observations about the child and his/her responses during assessment.

7. Bonus point: I made an audio or video recording of the assessment session, and used
the recording to check the accuracy of the marks I made during assessment.

After assessment:

8. I thanked the student for his/her participation. 

9. I wrote down a brief report of the assessment results, listing down the child’s
strengths and weaknesses in terms of literacy skills. 

10. For Kinder teachers: I conferred with the student’s teacher to see if my
