Narrative Report on the Conduct of Unit V Athletic Meet 2023

March 10-12, 2023

To unleash various innate skills of learners specifically sports related skills, the Department
of Education always conducts sports events every year except in the time of pandemic that happened
for almost 2 years. This is to comply with the goals of the department in constantly nurturing learners
for them to realize their full potential and be able to contribute meaningfully in nation building.

Last March 10-12, 2023, public schools district supervisor, school heads, teachers, coaches,
officials, athletes, parents, visitors and other significant stakeholders gathered at Villareal National
High School as Unit V Athletic Meet 2023 was held. The Unit V is composed of four districts
namely, CALPISANVI (Calbiga, Pinabacdao, San Sebastian, Villareal) and Villareal NHS is the host
school for this school year.

March 10, 2023 was the date of the arrival of all the participants coming from all participating
schools. Solidarity Meeting was also a part of that day’s itinerary which started at 4:00 PM where
delegations from different zones were formally presented.

On the second day, March 11, 2023, the parade started at 7:00 o’clock in the morning and
after which, the program started with the singing of Philippine National Anthem which followed by
the opening prayer and the welcome message of the school principal of Villareal NHS, Sir Ramel F.
Pajarillo. After the declaration, there were events which already started their games. As a coach in
Chess, I see to it that my athletes are ready and well prepared for the game. March 11, 2023 was the
date of the official game competition for most of the sports events including athletics, arnis,
badminton, baseball, basketball, chess, football, sepak takraw, swimming, volleyball and etc. The
games continued up until afternoon of March 12, 2023 until all events came up with championship
and already determined all the winners. In the afternoon, winners were given awards and due
recognition with their coaches.
