"Understanding Common Hazardous and Disaster Risks in Bacolor, Pampanga"

Bacolor is located at the heart of Pampanga and a low-lying area which concludes that it is prone to
various hazards that could take place in an unforeseen or prognosticate time based on scientific studies.
Among the geological hazards Bacolor encountered are liquefaction, earthquakes, and volcanoes,
whereas, the meteorological hazards include tornadoes, flooding, and heat wave.

The aforementioned volcano hazard took place in the year 1991 when Mt. Pinatubo erupted and 95%
were estimated to be the affected victims, therefore, making the area of Bacolor prone to major ash falls.

(Siguro sa part na 'to, we can show like statistics style, like yung blocks na pataas ng pataas or yung
circle-like then doon nakalagay yung 20% etc)

Studies have shown that there is 20% possibility that flood may occur in the area once again. As it shows
that there is a possibility of 0.5-to-1.0-meter height for 1-3 days.

(In here, idea lang hehe... uhm siguro yung picture ng heat wave radar sa bacolor if meron. Yung picture
ng place na may kulay na red, orange, green depending sa heat na naeexperience, sana gets huhu)

Bacolor is presumable of heat waves in an average temperature higher than 83°F of Pampanga which is
96°F.

Solutions/Recommendations:
(Here siguro, bawat solution lagyan ng icon or like drawing sa gilid na makukuha sa canva para mapakita
yung actions ng solutions. i hope gets haha: )

1. Being highly alert mentally and physically to sprint in action quickly when a particular hazard takes
place.

2. Learn the area's history and background for community awareness of the hazards.

3. Communicate with the local government to access informations and evacuation routes and sites, as well
as alternative routes in case of emergency.
4. Prepare an emergency bag that containes the essential items a person needs to survive.

5. Share safety tips with people as well as make right use of social media for educational purposes.
Furthermore, it must come from a reliable source such as World Health Organization.

Flood:
• To mitigate flood risks in vulnerable communities, a clear sewer is a must for the water to flow smoothly
without possible complications.

Heat Wave:
• To achieve a lower temperature in a particular area, especially those who experiences heat wave,
planting trees is a must to provide shades and oxygenated air.

Tornadoes:
• To avoid a tornado, strengthen weak spots of a structure building you are in such as a house. Make sure
that the roof are strong enough to prevent from flying.

Volcanoes:
• Get to a high ground away from the volcano. Seek shelter such as an evacuation center

Earthquakes:
• Shelter under a sturdy table away from windows that might shatter or dangerous things that might hurt
someone.

Liquefaction:
• Ground improvement techniques is a way to prevent a liquefaction from happening. It increases the
density, strength, and/or drainage of the soil.
