I. INTRODUCTION

Everyone knows that ballpoint pens are essential, almost everyone is using

ballpens, be they teachers, other workers, and especially the students. The ballpen is the

witness to students’ hardwork, whenever they take down notes, doing written assignments or

homework, and other school works. According to the PEN shop, 2022. One of the

disadvantages of a pen is that you cannot erase any mistakes, unlike pencils. As a student,

often they get into situations where they write errors on their papers, and since pens aren’t easy

to erase like pencils, people sometimes just brush it off with their pens, which only makes the

paper look ugly. And when correction pens/tapes were invented, erasing errors became much

easier, but even with that, people still encounter problems, such as misplacing their correction

tapes/pens, and forgetting where they put it. And more specifically, because pens and

correction pens are two different products separated from each other, sometimes students only

manage to buy pens, and forget about correction pens, or that they can’t afford to spend money

on two separate products, so they choose to buy only the ballpen.

The birth of correction pens/tapes has made the use of pens much easier, but what if

there is something that can make it much easier? With our innovated product, all issues with

existing pens will be solved, because our product is built differently to those existing pens, as it

is a combination of two products, which is a pen and correction pen. The structure of our

proposed innovative pen has its own uniqueness, while it is a normal pen with a normal ink, its

bottom part however, is attached with a correction pen, the correction pen is placed from the

pen’s bottom to a length of ½ inch. Due to this, the ink inside is smaller than normal. But it

doesn’t make our product disadvantageous because the ink is refillable. And according to

treehugger, (2022). When compared to a traditional disposable plastic pen, refillable pens

reduce waste by about 50%. Meanwhile, Zenpop(2023) stated that, when you’re using an

expensive pen, a refill is a cheaper way of extending its life span. Also, it’s simply wasteful to

keep throwing away pen cases; refilling the ink is better for the environment. According to

Jetpens (2020), refills offer a cheap and easy way to restore your pen to its original glory. And

even when the correction pen has small space, it is still enough to sustain a good duration of

usage.

Through our product, duplex pen, the other workers, especially students, it will help

those who frequently make mistakes in their writing, mainly due to the dual purpose of this pen.

And our “duplex pen” is very reasonably priced while still being of great quality. It has many

advantages that other existing pens does not have, its refillable pen ink save waste as it doesn’t

have to be thrown out after the first use. You can save money by using this pen with refillable

ink and a correction pen attached to it. With this you may just refill your current pen rather than

constantly buying new ones. People can use this without worrying even if they make mistakes in

their writing. According to Garvey’s office products, 2018. Most correction tapes are geared

towards correcting 12-point fonts. Anything bigger and you will have to make several passes to

cover your mistake. Meanwhile it also stated that with correction pens, you’ll have the ability to

cover more mistakes as you can brush and thin the correctional fluid as needed. Secondly, you

aren’t restricted to any size. You can disperse the liquid to cover up small and large mistakes.

Therefore, our product will have a correction pen instead of a tape, it also includes a personally

made correction ink to make sure that the effectiveness is well done, which makes it very

convenient. With this product, people don’t necessarily have to buy a separate correction pen, it

is convenient in many aspects.

II. PURPOSE OF THE STUDY

The Duplex Pen, a dual-functional product, promotes users to conveniently

switch between writing and correcting errors without the need for separate tools. It's useful for

notetaking, editing documents, or making revisions in one go. Our innovative product not only

makes the writing and editing process efficient but also reduces waste by combining two

commonly used writing tools into one, contributing to an eco-friendlier and sustainable writing

experience. Its ergonomic design ensures comfort during extended writing sessions, and the

fused correction pen ensures that mistakes can be quickly and neatly addressed without the

hassle of searching for a separate correction tool.

Since then, students and office workers struggle when they make a mistake during

writing and don't have a correction tool. As a result, they often have to start their papers over.

Another problem is that, with a lot of items in their bags, they can't find or may forget where they

put their ballpen or correction tool. With these concerns in mind, our company conceptualized a

product that addresses all of these issues. The Duplex Pen's purpose is not only about

conveniently switching between writing and erasing in one go but also being a compact product

that is much easier to carry. Second, users won't have to worry about their ballpen and

correction tool going missing. Additionally, it's much more cost-effective than purchasing two

separate products.
