Warm Greetings
This is in reference to my study permit application, Application No. (S305005714) . I got
refused for my student visa on the following grounds:

 The purpose of your visit to Canada is not consistent with a temporary stay given
the details you have provided in your application.
Thank you for your concern, the refusal gave me a platform to represent myself in a better
way.
I am MOHIT CHHABRA a resident of Palwal, Haryana, India with passport number Z4222449.
I completed my matriculation in June 2011 and my senior secondary education in May 2013.
I then pursued my higher education in the field of civil engineering and I completed BTECH.
CIVIL ENGINEERING IN JUNE 2018 from MANAV RACHNA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY,
FARIDABAD. During my Graduation I also Interned as a site engineer trainee for 5 months
in Larsen and Toubro Limited where I gained insight about the practical site work.
Afterwards, I did a 3month training on RCC (reinforced cement concrete structures)
structure design project, under the guidance of Mr. Chandra Kumar Shekhar (M.TECH in
Structural Engineering , alumnus IIT Delhi ).
After that I began my professional career as a Civil site engineer with Shadab Z construction
CO which is a renowned private builders firm that works for Military Engineering services.
 My intentions to visit Canada are purely educational so as I am able to gain
knowledge about the required skill set which I will be in need of to perform my job
well and to grow in my career in INDIA. Moreover, the position of employment on
which I will be working in after the completion of my course has equivalent salary in
Canada as well India. So, I would prefer to work and live in India with my loved ones
rather than adjusting to a whole new country. Furthermore, I would love to
contribute in my country’s economy by performing my job well as a Construction
project manager and I would be doing so b working on vital projects such as the
development of public housing, commercial buildings, road and transportation,
health and sanitation facilities and many more such projects because they act as a
backbone of the developmental efforts going on in a developing nation. In addition to
that, I have strong ties in my home country, my parents have a net worth of CAD
206,612 and property and assets worth CAD 194,054 which I will inherit from them
in future. My parents are supporting me financially for my education abroad and it is
my responsibility as a good Son to return to them and take care of them in their old
age. My connections with my home country are strong, My family has provided me
with everything and we share a strong and warm bond. I am an emotional person, it
is impossible for me to imagine my life without them in it. Also, my home town is a
comfortable place where I have spent my time with happiness and I want to spend
the rest of my life there with my loved ones.

 Upon returning to India after completion of my course, I would be able to compete

well with the contemporaries and will be choosing to work for firms such as DLF,
Larsen and Toubro limited, Tata projects ltd., Reliance industries, KEC international
ltd and others.

WHY PROJECT MANAGEMENT COURSE ?

Understanding how does a construction site work and managed has always been a
dream of mine. It is what motivated me to choose Civil engineering as my major. It
was fascinating for me to watch the transformation of my small town into a
developed city with the help of civil engineers and I always wanted to be one of
them because in my eyes they acted as a hero which helped transform the lives of
millions of people in a developing nation by providing them with a better home and
facilities.

I pursued my course and did trainings which made me gain expertise in the field of
civil engineering. Afterwards, I started working as a site engineer. I was mainly in
charge of the technical work. After getting involved in practical work of a site I came
to know that studying about it and being a part of it are completely different things
but I managed through and performed my job well as it is my passion. I was excellent
at performing technical areas of the job such as preparing bar charts, building
planning and drawings, cement concrete designs, knowledge about steel structures,
matrix methods of structure analysis due to which I got promoted to the post of
junior project manager. Although, I got promoted to this rank but I lacked the
required skills for it. I had the required insight about the technical areas of the site
but to be a good construction project manager one must also be able to do proper
time management, risk management, resolve issues between employees,
organisational management, construction project execution and monitoring,
controlling the budget, organisational design and so on and I was not able to do
which was unsatisfying for myself and my colleagues. My senior supervisor advised
that I am hardworking employee but I should gain knowledge about these skills in an
extensive manner so as I am able to perform my job in well manner. I have some
organisational skills but I what I lack is in depth knowledge about the above
mentioned management skills which are not only essential for my employment
position but also for my growth in the field. So, I decided that I should enlighten
myself about these areas so as I am able to hold an edge that is why I chose
PROJECT MANAGEMENT course from ALGOMA UNIVERSITY because it covers in
detail about areas such as organisational behaviour and management, project
teams and leadership, project execution, monitoring control and closing, project
planning essentials, cost risk and time management, communication between
employees , budget control and so on which are vital skills required during work at
construction sites.

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

To be eligible for my overseas I also underwent IELTS academic test and scored 7.0
bands with 7.5 in listening ,8.0 in reading,6.0 in writing and 6.5 in speaking.

WHY ALGOMA UNIVERSITY?

Algoma university is among top 30 % universities of the world and I chose it because
I researched about it and I found the faculty members to be highly qualified and well
equipped with the knowledge of skills that I wish to acquire. Moreover, the
education in India is of theoretical nature and not practical based but I wish to learn
management skills in a practical manner so as I am able to use them in my job.
Furthermore, India has single intake, high reservation system which are
disadvantageous. Algoma university promotes small class learning which increases
the understandability of the course and is lacking in Indian institutes.
FUTURE PLANS

With the completion of my intended program and with the help of my previous educational
background and experience in the field, I would be able to work as a “CONSTRUCTION
PROJECT MANAGER” in my home country. According to the current scenario the
requirement for construction project managers is increasing substantially in India and is
expected to go up to 33 percent in the future. Moreover, the expected salary of this job
according to Glassdoor is about 9- 30 lacs per annum

with which I will be able to lead a lavish life in India with my loved ones and will be able to
take care of my parents in their old age who supported me always in all my endeavours.

Therefore, I want you the consider the case with sensitivity. I shall be grateful to you if
you grant me study visa as I will be able to able to grow a lot in my career as well my life
as a person. Your contribution in the progression of my career will always be appreciated.

YOURS SINCERELY,
MOHIT CHHABRA.
