Daily Lesson Plan in Mathematics Grade 10
September 1, 2023

I. Objectives
A. Content Standards:
The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of sequences, polynomials and
polynomial equations.

B. Performance Standards:
The learner is able to formulate and solve problems involving sequences, polynomials and
polynomial equations in different disciplines through appropriate and accurate representations.

C. Learning Competencies:
The learner generates patterns. (M10AL-Ia-1)

D. Specific Objectives:
At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:
 identifies and differentiates finite and infinite sequence;
 finds the next few terms of a sequence;
 observes the value of accuracy in solving number sequence.

B. Developmental Activities
1. A1. ACTIVITY “What am I?”
Determine whether the given sequence is finite or infinite
1) 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
2) 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, … 3n, …, where n is a positive counting number
3) 2, 4, 6, 8, ...
4) 2, 6, 12, 20, …, n(n + 1), …, where n is a positive counting number
5) 2, 4, 6, 8
6) 5, 10, 15, 20
2. A2. ANALYSIS “Talk To Me…”
(The students will be asked by following questions)
- What have you observed?
- Why do you say so?
- What do you think is the purpose of n variables in number 2 and 4?

3. A3. ABSTRACTION
It is a common experience to be confronted with a set of numbers arranged in some
order. The order and arrangement may be given to you or you have to discover a rule
for it from some data.
A finite sequence is a sequence which has a first term and a last term. An infinite
sequence is a sequence which has a first term but no last term. Subscripts are used to
designate the ordinal of a term. It is customary to use …, to designate a sequence of n
terms where n is a positive integer.
Examples: nth term
 What is the 3rd term of the sequence n + 1?
an = n +1 a3
 Write the first four terms of the sequence = n + 1.
(Solution: Substitute the natural numbers from 1 to 4 for n one after the other.)
=1+1=2 =3+1=4
=2+1=3 =4+1=5
The first four terms of the sequence are 2, 3, 4, 5.
 Find the 10th term of the sequence whose general term is given by

 Find the first three terms of the general term above.

4. A4. APPLICATION “What’s Next?”

Answer the given question.
A conference hall has 5 rows of seats. The first row contains 20 seats, the second row
contains 22 seats, the third row contains 24 seats, and so on. How many seats
are there in the conference hall?

5. Generalization
Emphasize this:
A sequence is a succession of numbers. Each number is called a term. Subscript are
used to designate the ordinal of a term. It is customary to use …, to designate a
sequence of n terms.

IV. Evaluation “Group Activity”

A. Find the first five terms of the sequence given the nth term.

1. (−2)2 n−1
B. Find the indicated term of the sequence whose nth term is given by the formula
1. an = 3n + 4 an12
n−1
2. an = (−1 ) (n−1) an 25

V. Assignment
A. Write the 1st 4 terms of the sequence whose nth term is given by the formula.
1. an = 3n – 1
2. an = 1 - 2n
B. Find the indicated term of the sequence whose nth term is given by the formula.
1. an = (n + 2)(n + 3) a17
2. an = (n + 4)(n + 1) a7
